Default RC Jets at Edwards Airshow

Anyone know if there will be RC Jet demos at the Edwards airshow next weekend ? The B-1 is supposed to make a supersonic run at 1000ft AGL - should be awesome !

Hmmm--the B-1B is a subsonic plane. The B-1A was a supersonic plane but to save money the B version was changed. Even so it is still way cool! A B1B was at the airshow in San Diego this weekend and made several low level passes in full afterburner.

Steve,
the Edwards Airshow website said they were trying break some record(s) - so maybe it is a special B-1 they will use.............

Actually the B-1B has supersonic dash capability, topping out at around Mach 1.2 but it doesn't like it much due to the lack of inlet ramps to slow the intake air..

The B-1B is not as fast as the B1-A, but it is supersonic.

Oops. Doug beat me to it

Folks,
I believe the question was "is there going to be a R/C Jets Demo?"

As far as I know there will be no models flying at the Edwards Air Show, just some static displays and maybe some indoor stuff.

I use to be on Edwards many years ago. If you can contact the Muroc Model Masters, they will tell you if there will be any model flight demos that weekend. They were the only santioned club on the base. I don't know if they still exist but that would be your best bet for information on what they will be doing.

Default F-22 at Edwards & Other Stuff

This is going to be a great show! A big thing you guys haven't mentioned: the Raptor is scheduled to do an aerial demonstration. To my knowledge, this will be the first time the Raptor has done a flight demo at an airshow.

B-1B supersonic run will be over the range about 50 miles north of the base. But it's still supposed to drop its entire load of Mk-82s within view of the crowd at the end of each day.

Dave Hudson: what do you mean "baby sitting the full scale F-35?" The X-35A/B was recently moved to the new Dulles annex of the Smithsonian, and the X-35C resides at Pax River. Is Lockheed Martin sending out the F-35 full-scale mockup that's been used at so many airshows over the last few years?

I'll be manning the Lockheed Martin booth from 8:00 to 10:00 on Saturday morning. That way my shift will be done when the flying starts! ;-) Please stop by and say hello, but don't ask for Flanker. The other folks at the booth won't know who you're talking about.

Yes, it is the second and newest of our full scale models. It would be awesome to have the real bird there but, the model will have to do for now.
Got to go catch my plane.

See you there!

What is the best airport/city to fly into for this show? A B1B supersonic dash and the F22 demo would be something worth seeing.

Burbank is closest, with airshow traffic maybe 2 hour drive +/-.

LAX, add 45 min to an hour

Ontario, maybe a little less than LAX but probably a push. Traffic & hassle way less than LAX.

Las Vegas - 3 hour drive + airshow traffic at base

I would love to go but the traffic at the base can be a killer, I mean 2 hours to go the last 10 miles

Matt,

It's only that bad if you get there after around 10am. Get there at 8am, and check out the statics before the flying starts.

I saw the F-35 at the Miramar air show and said to the guy "babysitting" it->> "It looks plastic" he says "it is.."

Pretty funky looking though!

Just to clarify: The B-1B Is very supersonic and it does top out at 1.2M and CAN stay there as long as it has the fuel to sustain the flight. I should know, I fly them.

realdeal,

If you're flying your own airplane and you have a friend in the area, you could fly in to the Rosamond Skypark. Or you could do Fox Field, where car rentals might be available.

Hi guys,

if someone will be out there and have a chance to take pictures of the F-22 pleeeeaaaassssseeeeeeeee send me a copy on CD if they're done by digital camera. I'm sitting here in germany and theres no way for me to see this beautiful plane there [][]

Maybe the one or other know that I have this plane already flying in scale 1:10 but still i am looking for real good pictures of the main retracts and of the stencils which must be on the plane. Unfortunately no one at Lockheed and even at Edwards made a reply to give me an answer to my questions how the paintsheme has to be together with the stencils and markings. So if there is someone out there who can take pictures, he will maybe do me this favor? I even will pay for this if necessary!!!!!!
