A different view of Rule 9
I was just over on a heli forum. The subject was the new rule #9. One of the first respondents posted this: "As written, sounds to me like a deliberate requirement to stop blade scuffing, lawn mowing and head button touching."
I guess how the rule is viewed is in the eye of the beholder.

RE: A different view of Rule 9
True, it is aimed at that stuff too. All of that is "3D" to the heliguys, who most give credit to starting 3D. And the same arguments go there too - Any heli pilot who can do that is way safer than a new heli pilot. Are there any actual claims related to this activity? I don't know. That heli isn't moveing, so any accident is going to be very benign.
See, all the same reasons it's not right.

I was really over there looking at the Ron Kyle thread, and this one caught my eye. If any of you have not heard of Ron Kyle, all the facts are there.

RE: A different view of Rule 9
Helis tend to explode when they hit the ground at power (even with no airspeed), then they eat themselves. To me, it seems easily more dangerous as "falling out of a hover". Planes with zero airspeed just go "crunch".
