I get most of my foam from the lumberyard. It's sold as "rigid foam insulation" and comes in 2' X 8' X 2" pieces. You want the white stuff. Around here it costs about $6.00 a piece, so it's cheap enough to learn on

This may or may not be what you're looking for but they are fully semetrical foam wings.

Try here if you want precut wings...
http://www.dbalsa.com/

Or if you want to cut you're own, look and see if you can find a insulation supplier that caters to contractors....I can get up to 6" 4x8 sheets of white at the one locally here..

Contact your local Home Improvement store (Home Depot, Menards, Loews. Etc). They usually have what you need in stock.

The home centers usually sell stuff that contains a lot of recycled material, not good for our use.

Find out where they get it and go direct w/your specifications (1-2lb density virgin)

Are there any tutorials online for foam wing construction? Ide like to take a shot at this as an alternative to my usual built up warbird wing.

...I've only seen up to 3" and home stores....
With good templates, 3" foam should let you cut 2 3/4 inch thick cores... 12% is thick for a big bird, so using it as a worst case, we can still get 23" chord panels... and 1:5 is a short aspect ratio so, again, using that as a worst case we get a 9 1/2 foot span... a lot of fairly big planes fit in that box. (I.e. you can cut some big wings from 3" foam.)

I keep wanting to get into quarter scale... one of these days I'm gonna build a nice quarter scale Goodyear racer to fly in the giants' meets. (What'd that be... about a 52 or 54" span... that ought to fit in the Honda!)

At our club we get foam at a concrete place. It is used for making shapes out of concrete. Islands, steps, things like that. I got a 3"x2'x8' piece for $9. Enough for about 4 combat planes!
