Default Which beginner RC Nitro is best?

I have several years experience in electric RC cars, now I want to get into Nitro cars but don't want the most basic starter kit. Ideally a kit rather than an RTR, do you know of any kits that can fit several shells, is capable of being upgraded in the future, and wouldn't be an embarrassment on the racetrack/club? Have looked at HGB1-E Hyper 10 Touring Car - is this any good?

This is a great kit car, it comes with a two speed transmition. This car has been out for a while so just about everybody makes hop-up parts for it: Hardcore Racing, HG, Robinson and a ton more
True though, the RS4 is a great car too; fast, tough, good parts availability and just about the same amout of aftermarket people make hop-ups for it.

Yeah, that's a great car also but I've heard that it is more for racing and that the RS4 is for bashing. It sounds like you probablyu should get the TC3 and I think it's a little more adfvanced too.

Hello Mate,

I've just got into 1/10th Nitro Touring Cars as well, and i went for the Thunder Tiger TS-4N. To be honest, surfing the various forums doesn't bring up a right lot about them but those that do comment say nothing but good things!!

It's a bit of a steal too, they've just released the TS-4N V2 Pro which is £30 more than the standard TS-4N package but with about £150 of hop ups already included. Nice. They do come RTR, but for someone who knows jack s**t about models, i've been fine when it comes to fettling her and it's dead straightforward. And i'll just add that with a few tweaks it's now running lovely, reliable & quickly.

HTH a little.

if you plan to club race then you would want to skip the hpi SS and getthe hpi R-40, or go for the Associated NTC3 or even Ofna's LD3.

if you plan to only bash save the bucks and go ahead and get the SS,

if you go with an NTC3 then get the team kit NOT the rtr.

I have the electric and nitro TC3. If you get it, just make sure you get the 2spd. Makes every bit of difference. JMO

I wouldnt go with the rs4 3 it is more for biginners, bashers and parking lot racers I would pick a HPi-R40, Trinity/Team Magic - G4 , Mugen - MTX3 or soon there will be the new 710 from serpent. They all are great kits.

you should get a serpent , it is a kit and you can pick a engine that u like that is simple to tune and is certainly not an embarassment on the track, and you dont have to worry a bout breaking pull starts cause u can use a starter box

HPI's are great out of the box and fully upgradable. And you will find a lot of topics on HPI's on the forums.

Looking at your discription of what type of car you like. I say the HPI RS4 3 SS is a good kit to start with. It perfectly fits all HPI 200mm boddies, comes with a 2 speed, very relieble, lots of hop ups available, and has a decent sport engine. Other cars worth looking at are NTC3, and Kyosho V-One S.
