Default Tired of wondering if nitrous will work

I decided to just test it myself. All I'm missing for the system the way I think it should work is a solenoid or a ball valve to act as a gate for on/off on a 3rd servo.Until I get one of those I'm gonna make an intake manifold and while the car is idleing, introduce the nitrous into the intake through a pressurized cylinder and flow control valve to drop PSI.If it works the rpm's should increase and the engine should rev higher and then it will just be a matter of finding the right amount to turn on and off.

hope you are aware of this but you can't inject more AIR( nitrus) without the correct MORE ammount of fuel(nitro)

all nitrus will do is lean you out . It is the extra fuel than must be used with the nitrus that makes HP>

that is not ex. tru think about it all the nitrous is doing is addin air and making the motor spin faster. if the motor spins faster it will draw more fuel!

and it doesnt do this long enough to hurt the engine

Yeah,I figure that when the rpm's increase so will the pressure to the tank from the pipe and give it more fuel. There might be a little "fuel lag" when the nitrous is first opened up but not enough to do much damage.I could also run a nitrous line to the tank to add pressure at the same time the engine gets it if I end up running that much pressure to the intake.

It'll be interesting to see what happens and how it runs,I have a friend thats a little bit faster than me so it might be enough to catch him on a straight.I'll try to get the "tank" ready tomarrow and make sure the flow control valve can handle the PSI from the charger.

so far...I have a leak in the "tank" and I can't seem to get it to pressurize until I get another O-ring.My pressure guage is stickin also but I saw it top out at 60 PSI when I charged the tank once, still not sure what the PSI is in the chargers. It sure gets cold when its depressurized, heres a pic of a frosty one.

I'm not trying to sell anything....I just wanna know if it works and I'm tired of going by what other people say.You can get those at any head/smoke shop in Florida but your state may not have them,I don't know. For anyone who trys to market a nitrous system and mark up the nitrous....a box of 24 of those was $10.00.You have to me 18 to buy them because of the potential for abuse so that might make it difficult for younger hobbyists to get.

If you have any more questions PM me.

Cant be sure but it looks like a whip-it, which isnt Nitrogen Oxide, but straight Nitrogen or Lughing gas... I think.. It probably wont work because its missing the oxygen catalyst.
Oh well, if it doesnt work, atleast you'll get a laugh.

Can anyone confirm that knows more about NOS?

The whip-it bulbs are NO2, I and others I know have used them on motorbikes and cars ! Its the real deal.... food grade Nitrous Oxide.

I don`t doubt that it will work on R/C`s....but as with using NO2 on full size petrol motors its a fine line between zoom and doom !... in anycase its going to really stress out the already highly strung Nitro engine...2 stroke and all !

I wanna see it work...but maybe not on one of my good engines !(better yet...someone elses lol)

Lol,if you inhale nitrogen you might freeze your throat.Laughing gas IS Nitrous Oxide...not nitrogen.Yep,they're whippets

Hehe.. Thats what I meant, nitrous not nitrogen. LOL - Be like Terminator 2

Laughing gas is N2O (Nitrous Oxide) and a tank of NOS is also N2O. You learn something everyday! I didnt know they were the same thing, always thought there was a difference like between carbon monoxide and carbox dioxide.

Yeah but in the nitrous you buy for real cars in the bigger bottle they add a chemical so it isn't laughing gas. I know this becuase my idiot friend tryed to inhale it.

i now a few idiots that would

im tryin to get some wippet cans and a punch
im tryin to get it to hold and release pressure when i hit the reverse swicht on my sportmaxx(havnt got reverse yet)
my question how much pressure do those wippits hold
and galexy do you have a reg on your setup

im also looking into this for marine use
it would do for a scale like launch like our full sized drag hydro as they dig a hole and rocket ship out and get set in less than ten feet
not bad sain their about as heavy as your cars

They add Sulfur to N2O for cars.

It…….

1) Makes it smell bad to deter “inhalers†away.

2) Makes it deadly……….yes, Sulfur will kill you if consumed (inhaled) in large amounts.

Tsunami,I have a flow control valve on the top of the tank so it doesn't blast uncontrollably into the intake and I'm gonna use a ball valve on a switching servo for the on/off action. As far as the PSI in the nitrous chargers,I can tell you its higher than 160 'cause thats when this guage tops out and blows my O-ring on the tank.I need a guage rated higher than this one before I know but I'd guess 300-400 PSI.

Rushdude,The nitrous you get for real cars has sulphur added to it so you can't inhale it without it tasting really bad and thats why they do it.Its called industrial or tech grade and some places don't add the sulphur to it,it'll have a kinda metallic taste...I know alot of "idiots".One of the not so idiotic idiots I knew made a rather elaborate filter for tech grade so it could be inhaled.

The liquified NO2 in the bulb probally has a pressure of around 700-900PSI !!! I have a regulator for full size bottles and if I remember correctly thats about what pressure it indicated, my CO2 and O2 bottles run 1000+PSI when full(my speced gauges have a scale up to around 4500PSI !) I remember when I was tring to set-up up electronic soleniods to release the gas, that the units rated to around 100PSI would not even open under pressure !!..and that was reduced pressure running from a secondary tank......when you come up with a ball valve or whatever that works, please let me know As far as your O-rings go you better have a pretty snug set-up, most fittings use a perfectly machined metal cone shaped face to seal onto another metal face...serious pressure !

When your talking engine compression I know a full dose of NO2 basically increases your compression ratio by about 10 times, depends on the dose/jet rate, also the general advisement for NO2 use in full size cars is that you want to be in at least 3rd gear, pulling only half of your redline when you hit the button...engine RPM usually doubles rapidly...and an over-rev with NO2 is not pretty. I have also seen some systems where they inject 2 stoke oil with or after the NO2 squirt..cools things down apparently.

Considering the scale and size of the whip-it bulb, I think that your going to get a lot of time with the valve open, it should last quiet a while and be good for a far few short bursts.

Forget the gauge. It is unnecessary. You will use up half the bottle
just for that. You can get N2O "chargers" all day on ebay. The
"Pure Whip" ones are the best. About 750 psi they tell me at
room temp. Im not giving away any secrets, but I understand
your enthusiasm. If it is freezing you are sending way too much.
It will freeze shut. You need a softer seal and a very small
chamber (whatever is after the bottle). The less room for the
gas to expand is optimal. The less distance the gas has to
travel to the motor is optimal. If you do it right, you should be
able to get 20 to 40 seconds of non-frozen gas flowing out
of a single charge. Make sure you have smoke at full throttle

well damn, you need a big balloon for those whip its.

for those who are unaware , whip it's are actually made as whip cream chargers. yes the same stuff in a bottle of whip cream at any grocery store in town, just no cream added yet. also the same stuff used at the dentist on your nose to make u all giggly and relaxed.

now whati am curious about is could you use a CO2 charge like they use in pistol type bb guns and pellet guns?
is it the nitrous or just the increase in pressure and air in this case making the difference?

Well all I can say is that I hope that you can get it to work to put all the people who said it wouldn't work to shame.

P.S.

I love the paint jobs and realism on your cars, Galaxy.

Wow,thanks for the comment on the realism,I love scale lookin rides so I try.I'm gonna try to do my next Eclipse body just like my real one this time, convertible and all....look for a matching real and RC thread soon

I sure hope I can get it to work too,it's apparent to me that if you can get the nitrous to the intake,it will burn and increase HP.However,it seems the hard part is just that, getting it to the intake at low pressure. Thanks Lasershop, those tips will help.

The Machine...you into paintball?lol I need a guage like that and I was gonna put one on my Autococker so I guess I'll just have to break down and order one.

You should go into painting bodies for people.

I would definitely let you paint my body for my car.

But anyways, not trying to throw off the topic of the NOS.
