Default Advice on Funtana

I'm wanting a Funtana but want to make sure that I should be able to handle it. I'm really not wanting it for hovering however. I want it because it looks nice and and seems to do really nice spins. I haven't had any big problems flying my trainer or stick. No crashes or hard landings. I'll be starting out with low rates, plenty of expo., and learning the ins and outs of the plane 3 mistakes high before I land.

Please let me know if I should be able to handle this plane. A few people including my LHS owner have told me that with low rates it handles almost as easy as a trainer but other people have posted that it is a very difficult plane to fly.

Thanks,

chris

More than likely, you will have no problem. I had the same concerns when I bought mine. It slows down very well for landing. It seems like it will almost float down. I think it is easier to land than my trainer.

You should be fine. The issues poeple have are with trying 3-D. Mine fly's great.

I would recommend it as a second plane on low rates.

You should be just fine. Besides the low rates and expo, keep your CG toward the front of the range. David

Thanks for the replys.

This makes a lot more sense now. The Funtana is easy to fly with low rates and a forward CG but is not really a good 3D trainer.

I forgot to mention that I'm building a SPA3D to learn some hovering on before I ever attempt it on the Funtana.

A weird thing happened last night. My LHS owner who wasn't sure of my name tracked me down and called me up to tell me that the Funtanas were in and he would hold one for me. He sure went out of the way to make sure I got one huh.

Thanks again,

chris
