yah i did but i took them both back out they made much different when sliding around a corner they on the other hand make the truck hillclimp way better IMO i would run one in the back and not the front it worked best for me on hill climbs and drags. but i took them out burlied my truck up a bit and now i jump it quite a bit and the spool kinda makes it worse for that

I have a spool in the rear only.I like it a lot makes the truck handle a little different but it's a lot of fun just takes some getting use to.Hope this helps.I wouldn't put one in the front . Mike

A Spool is the same thing we use in our 1:1 scale 4x4's. It's meant for one thing, for climbing and getting the best traction possible, however, t-maxx spools can't be unlocked, you either have them in or out. This means you have constant traction all the time. Sounds good huh? It sucks for handeling performance for the following reasons: A spool will make each pair of wheels turn the same speed at all times, when going around a corner you don't want both sides to go the same speed as this causes major wear and tear on you truck. Your tires will wear down much faster, your drivelines will twist harder, quite often breaking on high traction surfaces and your turning ability just plain sucks.
On the other hand, you get traction for days and you can climb stuff you never thought possible. But climbing things is really the only thing you can do well.
An alternative is a heavy Diff Lube such as the stuff from Ofna, if you can find it. Even though it's heavy it still seeps out over time but does work well. The last couple times I tore my Diffs apart I packed them with [link=http://www.badhorsie.com/products/diff-lock-grease.html]Diff Locking Grease[/link]. The whole idea behind the heavy grease is to slow down the spider gears in your diff, this in turn, makes your truck handle as though it has a limited-slip-rear-end. This is actually a pretty common race-trick that quite a few people still don't know about or have yet to try.

Hey Godlyone, have you ever used silly putty.. i remember hearing "the silly putty trick" mentioned. I've got a spool in the rear, but i really think it's a little tough on the drivetrain and i'd like to simulate a limited slip in some way, but seepedge sound like too much maintenance for a basher like me..lol

a very good Limited slip type mod is to take out the spider gears...and on the pin that the 2 spider gears go on place a spring with O rings at each end of the spring. The stiffer the spring, the more force pusshing outwards which in turn will give you a limited slip effect. When there is a heavy load on one tire, the O ring will slip. I used a pretty stiff/long spring from an inkpen and compressed it on there. The O-rings i used came from the shock rebuilding kit. And right now...I am trying out some split washers that go in between the o ring and the spring to help the clutch effect. Reinstall spider gears and fill the diff. cup with grease. Put it all back together and you have the spool effect with little to no money in it and no broken axles!
