Default R/C Car with Treads

Does anyone know about hobby r/c cars that have treads like tanks do? I'm not looking for a r/c tank though. Also I was wondering if it is possible to program a pistol grip radio to control the treads instead of having to use a dual stick radio.

I'm looking for something that like this Tyco Fast Traxx:

lol...I remember those! I used to have one....damn they were fun.

Are you asking if you can put independent track sets on all 4 rims or just 2 going down the length of it?

I've seen trucks do the tracks per wheel....but thats full size. Not sure if thats what you mean.

I meant 2 tracks, one for the left side and one for the right.

Its going to take some custom work. Think about it. You'd need to lock the front wheels and arms in a straight line, and rig something up to transfer power between the left, right, and both for directional control. Best bet would be to set up 2 independent electric motors and rig up a 4 ch tx/rx.

M3talhead I was also thinking about using two motors, and that way there would be no need for any servos. Although complicated, I would really like to try programming a pistol grip computer radio that would somehow slow the right track when the wheel is turned to the left and slow the left track when the wheel is turned to the right. Is is possible to set up a design like this?

I think that undertaking a task as big as programming your own radio would be too much. Ask the electric guys in one of the other threads. I'm sure they can be more helpful, seeing as how I've never really messed with ESCs or an electrics other than TYCO and Radioshack.

Using 2 electric motors is a good idea. I'd follow that.
