RE: Brown packing paper as covering?
cheers Otter,
Ok, what I mean is a way to cover the fuse of my p-51 in brown paper, because i´ve seen some great pictures where the paper pieces cut in panet size shows a great effect (bulging and so on..)
It should also give a good fundation for the larger rivets?

Try these sites. I substitute TiteBond thinned with water for the PVA. Can also use epoxy to glue the paper down. Chris Golds uses the brown paper/PVA technique to cover many of his masterpieces.

Thanks mugge for bringing this topic up again. I have used BPFC for many years and read Chris Golds´articles but still want to learn more about it. Why..? Because covering a thin profile foam wing is always a hazard in my hands. Sometimes they warp beyond no repair and I do not really know why....[&o].... Any further viewpoints or links on this interesting topic is greatly appreciated.....;-)...Cheers/Harald

i used white glue thined with water...works real well for foam wings...i just mixed in a little food color in with the glue...paint it on the foam, then wrap the paper on tight...wait til dry...then give it 3 coats of the glue and water mix...
it turned out to be real strong...took a crash and only cracked the corner...

RE: Brown packing paper as covering?
Many years ago my brother was trying to learn to fly control line with my grandfather's PDQ Flying Clown. It was covered in bamboo paper, and after several crashes there wasn't enough paper left to fly the plane. My grandfather took it home and re-covered it with brown wrapping paper (put it on damp, like silkspan). My brother never crashed again!
