what kind of glue would be good for making gas tanks out of small bottels

I haven't found any glue that really sticks to that slick polyethalene material. You might try silicone and then pressure test it under water.

My flying pal says that he repaired a fuel tank with hot glue.
He said that it is the same material.
........For what thats worth.
