Creek Giles 202 w/ Brison 2.4
Just finished my Creek Giles 202 with a Brison 2.4 for power. Final weight came in at 13Lbs. Flies awesome. Unlimited vertical and lands slow and smooth. There are a lot of nay Sayers out there that say this aircraft is to small for gas. NOT TRUE. With MG servos in the tail I still had to put the Ignition/battery all the way forward in the firewall box to get it to balance. My receiver is in the tail near the servos but my 6V receiver battery pack is just behind the bottom hatch opening where the main spar is. If I had used an OS 1.6 I would have probably had to add about 2 Lbs of weight in the nose and each flight would have cost me about $3.00 in fuel instead of 20 cents. Brison 2.4 is an awesome engine, starts easy, and runs like a top.
The creek Giles flies great! I especially like its very predictable and smooth flying qualities. No tendency to snap or get squirrelly on landings.
I would recommend the Creek 1.20 line of aircraft with a good gas engine too anybody.
Stay away from large 2 cycle engines such as OS 1.6. You are not going to save any weight because of the need nose weight for balance and you will spend a fortune on glow fuel flying it

Sorry but I disagree. The 2.4 is too heavy. I had a 1.60 on my Katana and aup was 10.5 lbs. The 1.60 is very fuel efficient. If you don't want to 3D the gasser may be ok. But that airframe is very light,I don't see it standing up to the vibration of gas engine very long. BTW,I have owned several Brison's so I am familar with their performance and vibration qualities, they are great engines,I do agree with that.

I don't see how one can dispute..success! Congrats on a great flying airplane....What size tank did you use...was the engine soft mounted...and did you use stock landing gear?..Other info...tank/battery location..pics if available...enjoy the new year with the new bird....

I guess it depends on what you consider success. I have been down the 1/4 scale gas road more than once and while it will fly and have unlimited vertical,as you guys like to say,It will have limited 3D performance. However,as long as you're happy, that's what counts.

I had a Brison 2.4 on a GP Giles and while the vertical was not unlimited, it flew very well. If you get the CG in the correct location, the plane handles well. I would say that the Creek Giles will be in the same situation. I will say that you need to make sure that the wing saddle area is stronger than normal. The plane will be taking loads higher than normal/design. A 5 "G" maneuver puts a tremendous strain on the wing saddle area.

Now that I have sold all my engines under 50cc except for one, I have to agree with your assessment!

Hello all,
I finally flew my Creek Hobbies Giles 202 with a ROTO 35 it flys great but I am worried of over stressing the airframe I will probably get a bigger plane for the engine soon, maybe 78 to 80 inch wingspan. But I will continue to watch for signs of stress and fly my Gas Giles 202!
Safe flying,
Rob

Yes in deed,
We still fly there regularly, a lot of our great flyers have left so we are struggling now club wise but we will continue to have fun in the sun at Torii Station and now we have a nice restroom near by it is fantastic.
Safe flying,
