If you can't spin an engine with a sullivan dynatron on 24 volts then theres other issues involved. I've seen this starter turn over everything up to a 40cc gasser effortlessly on 24 volts.

Believe I or not my pacific air models starter that costed me 35.00 with it's 3/1 gear reduction started a zenoah G-62 on 1 12v garden tractor battery, it was turning the G-62 over so fast the engine went right into idle and settled down smoothly. My friend just sat there in shock looking at the 35.00 starter and thinking about his 24V dynatron doing nothing for him. I had to pry it out of his fingers so I could go home.[:-]

Don't use the alligator clips on the starter. Too much resistance in the connection points. Use at least #10 or larger wire on all connections, bolt them to the batteries and use batteries that are up to the task. Little 7 AH gel cells are not big enough. Use lawn tractor batteries.
But, why can't you hand start this engine? It should start easily by hand.

As I recall Sullivan makes a High torque and the dynatron. You need the Dynatron for big engines. Be sure that you have the correct starter.
