Default Gyro for Hornet II

Guys,

What's youropinion of the GWS PG-03 gyro for the Hornet II? It is very light and probably the cheapest out there. I have a GY401 but it is installed on my Raptor 50V2. Would the GY401 be too heavy for the Hornet II with the sotck motor? Thanks in advance.

I ran the futaba gy240 on my (then) stock piccolo. The 240 weighs in at 25g and the 401 is 27g, so they would be similar. I was not happy until I went with a 3 cell LiPo setup. Only then did my stock motor have enough get up and go to keep me OGE for more than a minute or so.
I have since switched to the GWS PG03, letting my transmitter do the revo mixing, and running on 2 cell LiPos with the massive amounts of saved weight that the pg03 has over the GY series.
To be truthful, I prefered the gy240. Rock solid tail. I think I have a CSM HLG200 in my future. It is much closer to the weight of the GWS gyro, but offers rock solid head holding.
Not having a hornet, I am not positive that this all translates from my piccolo to your situation directly, but it should give you some insight.

Vince,

Thanks for your reply. Can you lighten the Gy401/240 gyros?

Thanks Hoverup,

I'll size it up and probably use my GY401 instead of the GWS.
