Default Aeroworks Extra 330l

Hello Chip

I gusted wanted to question you on the AeroWorks Extra 330l 33%.

Have you flowen this plane?

Do you think that this plane would be a good plane for IMAC and 3D?

IMO I feel that this plane would be an exelent IMAC plane but when it comes to the 3D I am not sure and that would partly be because I am still learning

Your input is apreciated.

I will be following with more questions on this plane soon

Best regards

Michael Hendry

Michael,

I happen to have that very same plane here at the house. I have quite a few flights on it and it is a very good flying plane all the way around. The only thing I can suggest you doing to it, is clipping the wing 2 inches on each tip. We have done this to ours out here and they fly great. It does not effect the slow speed stuff a bit, but really helps the way it snaps and rolls. You can't go wrong with this ARF, its a good one.

Thanks for the reply

Could you please explain the process of the clipped wing and the reason for doing this change?

I have two of these planes one with the 3W 106 and another that I will be setting up with the DA 100.

Where is your CG set Is it at the recomended setting by AeroWorks?

When you test the cg do you test side to side as well? If so how do you recomened doing this test on this size of plane?

Did you make any other modifications to this plane to improve it.

How much throw do you have on the surfaces for 3D

Thanks
Michael

I clip the wings to help with the snapping and rolling manuevers. The longer your span the harder it is to get a plane to roll axial. I also like the way it start into snaps and comes out of them much better then with the full span. I have friends that have clipped 4 inches off each tip and they swear its even better. I have not had the time to try this myself, but I hope too soon.

That's it for the mods. I get as much travel as possible for the 3d rates, and the C.G. I have never checked. I have the batteries in the nose with the ignition, and the receiver is mounted behind the wing tube, with the rudder servos in the tail.
