I am crazy, or normal???
I think I love RC cars too much. [violins playing] When I was little my dad would take me to the rc track and watch the rc races( RC10 buggies with the tub gold chassis, and white wing nuts were a dream come true) , but we were too poor and couldn't afford anything. But now 15 years later I got a great job and can afford the hobby and now I'm out of control. I race touring and offroad spend money like crazy. Every spare minute of the day I'm either on the internet reading about RC stuff or I've got my RCcar action book open. Does anyone else think about it as much as I do, or am I crazy? If I died today and heaven was a hobby shop I'd order 20 trillion gallons of 30% and lay back and enjoy eternity. Thanks for letting me vent.

Crazy? No sir I don't think so. A bit obsessive - well maybe - but aren't we all?
I just wish that I could get paid to run my trucks. I often think that if I won the lottery - I would open my own track and hobby shop.
Although I am relatively new to this site/forum - I think that you will find that you are in great company!!

RE: I am crazy, or normal???
In order to classify someone as “crazy†you must define “normal†first.
Since there is no such thing as a “normal†person per se, one cannot possibly be classified as “crazyâ€.
My only advice to you Mrfranchise is to slow down just a little. It is possible to get “burned out†where you would loose interest for a short period of time. Then you’d pick it all back up again, full steam ahead, only to find yourself in this continuous cycle.
We use to have a really nice off-road course and a carpeted round track (indoor) here my town. There was this one guy who showed up one night to spectate a round track race and he was instantly hooked. The fallowing week he had not one, but three cars to run, all new for three different classes. He did poorly the first couple of weeks (still learning to drive) but pressed on and started to win a few from time to time.
He did the exact same thing with dirt track.
Pretty cool huh?
Not really. He was neglecting his bills at home to pay for his addiction. He’d become a junkie, only he wasn’t snorting or shooting up his new drug. His power had been disconnected a few times and his phone hadn’t worked in months but HE WAS RACING!!!
He eventually wound up selling most of what he had: Like 5 or 6 cars and buggies, numerous radios, battery upon batter packs, extra wheels and tires, bodies, the list goes on and on and on and on……Just to keep from having his car repossessed.
Everything in moderation people.

RE: I am crazy, or normal???
I understand what everyone is saying, but I know I won't get that serious. It is just a strong passion, I want to know all there is to know about RCing. I don't put my hobby before bills, but I would put it before new shoes and clothes in a heartbeat as long as they are still decent. knowhatimean?
God put me here to accomplish things, at this rate I may never die

RE: I am crazy, or normal???
I thought *I* was bad for obsessing over R/Cs but MrFranchize02 & the dude Billyman mentioned have me beat by a long shot. I dreamt about my Savage for a long time before & after I got it. My MBX wasn't as bad but I thought about it alot at work. I work with a guy that is into R/Cs so we get to talk about them quite a bit.

Oh no. I'm crazy too! I do all that stuff. In fact I snuck off from my friend just now to learn more RC stuff. I Have been going to the mail everyday hoping for my Rc Car magaizine to be here. The other day I spent 3 hours cleaning my parts and drooling over it. Im not crazy am I?

I'm right there with you guys. My Son and I race our trucks on Saturdays, or sedans on Sundays, then I spend ALL my free time after work taking them apart and cleaning them. I LOVE IT!

RE: I am crazy, or normal???
Well I don't think I am as bad as some but I'm still up there. I have a Savage with a Wasp .26, a Hopped up RS4-2 with a Sirio .12, Hyper 7 with Sirio .21, and I have even build something I call a "Mishap" out of random parts. I have started on my Custom Truck. I am currectly working on the Plans. Where I live there really is nothing to do. I mean I can go drink to get drunk but I don't see the point in it. I just hope I am as lucky as LosiFan, to have a son to share this hobby with one day!

RE: I am crazy, or normal???
I'm NOT crazy; just love the sport and hobby of R/C.
I like my 2 helicopters because I don’t have to go to the airfield. It’s backyard fun without that hassle of loading up equipment.
When I want to cruise the skies for a while, I’ll take 1 or 2 of my 4 planes and go do so.
The only bad thing about the helicopters and planes is it’s a perfect weather sport. Little to no wind, overcast is sometimes ok but the moisture in the air isn’t too good for the engines at high altitudes.
As long as it’s not actually raining at that particular moment, I can take any 1 of many rc trucks I have and go bashing. Whether it be 100 degree’s or 20 degree’s, it’s year ‘round fun.

RE: I am crazy, or normal???
My dad was my support since day one. My first car was a losi Jr 2. We built it and raced the novice class. I stayed out of trouble because there was always work to be done to my car. My wife asked me "will you ever finish this car". Finish?[sm=confused.gif]

RE: I am crazy, or normal???
I got my wife a TMaxx - She loves it. It now has more hop-ups than the thing originally costs. I cant wait to finish breaking the motor in. In a few weeks, but not now because I am messing with my electric more recently.
