Default Hello All

Hello All,

Found your site surfing the net looking for people who know about TMaxx. I can't become a member of the Traxxas site because I am a "HotMail" looser ! ! ![:@] Looser --User, samething to them. Seems like there is a lot more experienced users here anyway.

Financially, I am able to start working on my trucks.

The orginal Traxxas engines are crap. Terrible about overheating. No matter how far I richened them up they would still overheat, even with the body covers off. A Big Fun Killer. They have been sitting for about a year now.

I am not looking for Super performance out of an engine. We are just running them around the yard. I have looked at the Sirio and the Fantom and the OS. I wonder if a lower horsepower engine wouldn't be better and not make so much heat. I would sacrafice the break necking speed for dependablity. Especially when your kid is standing there "When are we going to run them again"? He doesn't care how fast it goes really, as long as it goes.

Thanks,

Rob

Default RE: Hello All

Mine is pretty bad too. I dropped in the sirio 18. So far it's been extremely reliable, never stalls out or anything. It's more powerful than the TRX 2.5, and alot easier to tune. Mine runs a little hotter than recommended, but still cooler than the 2.5. My buddy bought a Trinity cool head for his 2.5 and it made a world of difference. If you put in a bigger engine, you may start breaking driveshafts, gears, etc. A smaller engine may not be a good idea, it'll have to work harder to keep the truck moving, which will create more heat. I've heard that breaking-in the 2.5 in cool to cold weather, will make it overheat and stall when the weather gets warmer. If thats your case then you may need to rebuild it when the weather is hot.
