Default MAC Pipe TT Pro46 OMP Edge. Pipe help Please!

I just got 2 Mac pipes and headers for Christmas and now attempting to install them.

I have to unwind and vent a bit by saying that the MAC site is something to be desired!! It sucks!! Under the Tuning, they have no data on the TT Pro 46 along with some other popular engines, only stating pending...gee how long has the TT Pro 46 been around.. Secondly, try and send an email for a few questions..it's like pulling teeth from an alligator...(not possible) Lastly, having to install the pressure fitting is a crappy deal. If it was my company I would have a plugged hole in the header and another in the pipe and one could have the option where to put the pressure tap...If they included one that is! Even there prop sizes are out of date for the engines they have listed but yet they want to talk about hovering! (Prop Hanging)!! Read http://www.macspro.com/tuning.asp you'll know what I mean. Get it together MAC!

Anyway I am installing the #2590 Header with the #1140 Tuned pipe. Installing it on my OMP 540 Edge PFF, running a TT Pro 46. I will be running a 12.25x3.75 APC. Anyone out there with experience in the correct header length? (I know I got to cut but don't want to cut too much off.) I'll get back to replies as soon as I can but I live in the Sticks with no hobby shops and I have to go find a 9 cent pressure fitting!!! arrrrrr!
Thanks
Don

Well I can't speak for the TT 46, but I'll swear by a 46 FX with a macs header and a .25 to .32 tuned pipe. It gives more torque than the .40 sized tuned piped thats designed for top end. No cutting required on the header, just put the pipe coupler on and it's perfect. It's not there job to tune your motor, next you'll want them to come set your needle's. Set yours up the way you like it.

Altitude, humidity, Intended useage, Nitro content and probably 1/2 dozen other factors could affect the length of your header. Keep the header and send the pipe back. Then, make yourself a mousse-can pipe. If you need instructions on how to build one, type in mousse-can pipe on yahoo search and you will find all info you need.

If you want to find out what other people are saying about the MCP, look at all the recent posts on the spad forum. SPADS tend to weight a little more than profiles, so the extra mid-range power and addl. 500-800 rpms help greatly. I think you would love what it would do for your combo.

Just my $.02

Don,

I am installing a TT .46 on a OMP Edge540FF as well, with a mousse can muffler on a Mac's header.
I used the whole header. Just cut off about an 1-1/2" and JB Weld it into the bottom of the mousse can. Put a 1/4" alum stinger about 3" long into the top of the can. Haven't ran mine yet, but this is what the other guys have at our field.

Well got the pipe on.
12.25x3.75 APC 14200 RPM Static
All I can say is WOW!!! A Rocket!!!
I angled it down a bit to help with fuel residue but I may be getting a bit of up thrust on the side the pipe is on..Tried a few hovers today and it was pushing back on that side the pipes on, didn't do that before, it was a bit windy so I will see if it does it next time out, if it does I will put pipe inline straight.
Here's a few PICS
Cheers

Thanks,
It is the 1140 Tuned pipe, which is the 7.5cc size rated for 40-50 according to the mac site. It is the tuned pipe, not the quiet pipe so may appear to be smaller in length. Forgot to mention that I ended up cutting off 1 7/8" total from stock header #2590.

1" off= 13600
1 1/2" off= 13700
1 3/4" off= 13900
1 7/8" off= 14200

All using APC 12.25 x 3.75 Elevation 70' above Sea Level

14200 is good enough for me but I may have been able to get more. Transition is great plus reliable...didn't want to push it too much to end up with just total top end and tempermental running engine.
Cheers

I used the full lentgh of my header with the 25 to 32 sized tuned pipe, it seems to give me more torque than my cut header and 40 tuned pipe, but the top end is killer on the 40 pipe, just not as good for hovering, and I'm using apc 11.5x4 props.
