Need picture of G-62 carb linkages...
Hi,
Can someone post a picture of their carb linkages on a G-62 with the offset carb adapter?? I'm not sure if there is enough room for the
throttle and choke arms in the area I have available to work with, so I'd like to see how others are doing it! Also, the choke action seems rather "stiff".
Will a standard size servo (40 oz.-in.) operate the choke of a G-62??

I just finished putting a servo on the choke on a G-62. I"m using a standard servo on 6 volts without any problems. My engine has been converted to ignition by Ralph Cunningham so I don't know if the throttle setup will help you much.

Here you go macro-RCU. You'll have to grind the top off the original choke linkage with a dremel to pry the old metal arm off. I used an old throttle arm from a B&B bellcrank kit for a G-62 throttle for the choke arm. Any arm with the right size collar inside will work. Be sure to grind a flat spot on the shaft, and use lock tite on the set screw. Same goes for the throttle arm. Be sure to leave the spring in place, but disconnected. This will keep the butterfly from wearing inside the carb. You'll notice a piece of brass tubing soldered to the hole in the diaphram cover on the carb. If the carb gets rotated with the straight shot adapter, the the diaphram cover gets rotated to where it is facing directly into the air blast,your motor will not run properly. The air blows directly into the cover and causes the diaphram to malfunction. Normally your motor will sound ok on the ground, and once in the air it will get very rich. The brass tube solves that problems. Some guys will just cover the hole with a plate, or put a nipple on it and run a hose to the inside of the fuselage. I found the brass tube to work the best. If you put a plate over it, besure NOT to seal the diaphram hole, it has to be open. My throttle linkage works my spark advance also, so yours won't be like this. You will just grind off the original arm just like on the choke, and install another steering arm. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the pictures! Can you tell me the vintage of your G-62? The carburetor on mine is completely different, with the choke and the throttle shafts on the same side of the carb. BTW, is that a Wild Hare Edge 540T ??

I've had my G-62 for 3 years or so and bought it NIB from a guy. Did you buy yours new or used? While looking into the throat of your carb, and the engine is mounted inverted, if you rotate your carb 180 degrees to the right, then the fuel inlet, choke, and needles would match mine. I wonder if your butterfly and throttle arm have ever been out of the carb? Can these even be turned end for end?? My buddy has a G-62 and it's the same as mine. Maybe rcign1 will jump in here and shed some light on the subject.
Yeh boy, it sure is the Wild Hare Edge! I can't wait to get it flying. My Giant Stinger came in at 20 lb, and my G-62 hovered it with no problems. Can't wait to see how the Edge will do at 17 lb.

Every G62 ever made uses the same Walbro HDA 48 carb..there was a mod a few years ago, from the HDA48C to the HDA48D...Only difference is the length of the little arm on the end of the throttle shaft....When I convert a G62 the carb shaft gets swapped end for so as to operate the spark advance in the right direction, and the idle SPEED screw gets cut off.. ...If you take it out don't forget to replace the spring...It holds the shaft against the stop on the other side and keeps the throttle plate centered...If you leave the spring out the vibration from the engine will wear out the edges of the plate and eventually keep it from closing off to kill the engine.....
