Airworld L39 canopy
I have not been able to come up with a good idea to retain the canopy
on my 1/5th L39. Currently have 2 fixed pins at front and 2 retracting pins at rear.
I want to hide the mechanism for operating the pins but cannot find an obvious
place to put get at it. The u/c opening would have been OK but the doors are
closed when parked.
Any ideas please?
Franny

RE: Airworld L39 canopy
I'd be interested in what you come up with, but unfortunately I don't have any ideas to offer on it. Mine currently have the mechanism visible, but is unpainted and finished at the moment, so I would consider changing it if there was an easy way to do so. I'll put my head into it since I'll be installing the interior cockpit over the next week or so.
How far along is your kit? I'd be interested in hearing about how you tackled various parts of the kit.

Y2K. If you search the forums, it will turn up a couple series of photos on the 1/5th scale L39. I think Franny might have posted some already. Not sure. I've got another series of photos that I'll be posting in the next few days (or week or so) on the progress thats been done on mine.
A series from Koko here http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.a...269260&key=l39
Some of mine here http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_89.../tm.htm#890460
I couldn't find the other one I remember. I've got about 150+ photos on CD-ROM if you want it. Just cover shipping and I'll burn you a CD.

Franny, Y2K. Why don't we combine the photos we all have, and exchange them between ourselves. I'll make the master if you don't want to, or I can send my photos to someone to make the master. Don't really mind either way. I've got lots of building photos, full scale reference photos, 3 views, and photos from a couple other builders.

Ok then. I'll assemble the photos I have so they are ready to burn a CD. Franny, please send me a CD of the photos you have, or try to e-mail them to me if there is not a lot of them. Same with you Y2K if you have some available. Send me an e-mail and we can trade addresses off-line. I'l burn a few CD's with all the combined photos and mail them out to you. I'll also update periodically as we gather more and more photos and drawings and such.
I'll organize it into directories such as cockpit install, ducting, undercarriage/doors, linkages and servos, full scale reference, etc. Should end up being a good resource for building the 1/5th scale L39's.

Will reduce size of pics for mailing.
Just downloaded the Koko pics. It seems there is more than one way to skin a cat.
I have not put as much effort into the scale detail as there is on that model.
Should have seen them before, probably would have done things differently.
They do not show the canopy release though.
Looks nice.

Guy's
If you have servos on the two airbrakes you can take sullivan type snakes down to the openings and have a 90 degree bend to grab and pull. Pins at the front and wire pegs attached to the snakes at the rear.
You need to be able to open the airbrakes with your fingers. Or remember to open them before switching off the radio.

What have you guys decided to use for brakes, gear/door sequencing, etc? I'm at that stage now that I am starting to setup the pneumatic system and looking at the U.P.2 and U.P.4, Mini Hobbly, BVM, etc. Just want to compare notes.
