There is a nice field in racine wisconsin, off exit 333. Its grass, with about 400 ft of take of/landing space. It is though, surrounded by farm fiels which are plowed rough, and a deadstick might lead to a very unpleasant occurence. I have seen turbines fly here though.

Look up Racine RC Club on yahoo for further details.

Doesn't Bong recreation area have a paved runway? I've never flown there, but I have seen it from a distance. Might be worth investigation. It would be a little closer than Racine.

The place that has the most jets is the field at Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin. They have about eight pilots who fly jets on a regular basis. Its a very short well kept grass field. Its about and hour and a half from the Illinois, Wisconsin state line but well worth the trip. Bong doesn't have a set up for jets and Racine for me, is a little to small for jets but I never flew mine there. I do fly my jet at Fond Du Lac and I travel from Milwaukee, about an hour ride. The field is jet friendly, very open and very nice people in the club. Week-ends always see lots of jet flying.
