Thought it would be intreresting to start a thread to see what the average number of planes everyone owns. I have 10.

For those who have someone saying "dont you have enough planes honey"....Let her (him for the lady pilots) read this, I am sure there will be some big numbers. Luckily I dont have this problem, she encourages me to buy more..

I have 4 flying, 1 "spare" that would only need radio gear and engine, and one kit that a good friend is going to build for me....also, 2 electrics.

This is the plane I **finally** soloed on. Its a hand-me-hand-me-hand-me-down - it was given to me by the bloke that taught me to fly. He learned to fly with it; it was given to him by the bloke that taught him to fly. He learned to fly with it; it was given to him by the bloke that taught him who built and learned to fly with it!! whew! Its pretty ratty but I just can't throw away something with that much history.

Well, I do think it's time for me to take a census here on my planes anyways....I sometimes forget about a few of them...or leave them alone for a long time and come back to them and it's like having a new one all over again.

Ready to fly:

Goldberg Sukhoi
GreatPlanes Extra300
WM Zen50
Midwest SuperHots
PacificAeromodels Sukhoi
GreatPlanes Decathlon
Midwest Aerostar20
Goldberg GentleLady

On the table:

Midwest Extra300
WM Mustang (restoration)

In the rafters:

GreatPlanes Dazzler
Hanger9 Edge540

I know I've forgotten a few though...oh well. It's a start.

Hey, here's a tip for you guys that have those wives that say "why do you need so many planes??" (they think they all fly the same, don't they?) Just tell her that the more planes you have, the less often each one gets flown in the "rotation", therefore, the planes will last longer! It usually buys you enough time to buy a couple more.....he he

I have 8, although I only fly 2. I'm finishing repairs on my favorite so I'll have 3 that I like to fly.

Who's going to count the numbers and average it all out?

Four that are ready to fly. One with no radio or engine. One that has been 95% complete for a year. (Need to get off my rear end and finish it.)

I used to carry three or four planes to the field at a time. Now it is rare that I take more than one. Am I getting lazy or smarter? Probably lazy.

Default How many planes do you own? And what are they?

Within the past two months, I decided to sell all my little airplanes that weren't getting flown, and so a total of eight airplanes are now housed in somebody else's garage. These were primarily all 1/4 scale models powered by gasoline engines, G23's, G38's, Q35's, and Q42's.

I saved five: all scratch built - own design.

1/3 scale J-3 Cub - G62
1/3 scale J4-E Cub - G62
1/3 scale Ercoupe - G62
1/3 scale Bristol Scout - G62
30% Stinson SR-10 - Fox 5.8

and I have a 1/3 scale Aeronca Sedan about 80% complete - which also will be powered by a G62.

These airplanes get flown regularly. The 13.5 ft., 45# Stinson is my favorite. You just can't beat the performance and realism of the big airplane. I encourage all you guys that are presently flying the little ones to give it a try. You will be glad that you did.

GP Extra 300S .40

Out of service:
Taco .25 scratchbuilt funfly (stole electronics for the Fundango... bad move)
.40 Stik type plane of unknown manufacture
Miss2 electric ARF

33

6 -- 1/4, 1/3 & 42% gassers
12 -- Glow
6 -- slope/thermal
9 -- electric indoor and park

All but four are flying and I did force myself to sell or trade 6 that
I didn't fly at least 4 or 5 times a season. Most of my flying now is
with the gassers, so my small glow fleet is shrinking.
Each plane was a lot cheaper than a therapy session. People
say I'm doing much better now.
