Shroedm-RCU,
Looks bloody awsome!!!
What was original paint scheme? did you have to do any special prep work prior to painting it?

Hey Mr G,
Original scheme was the plain white with red undersides (see below) although it now has all plain white undersides!
As for the prep work, I'm not going to pretend that I have the patience or skill to produce that paint job so my paint guy did it for me!! Overall, it was just a case of lightly scuffing back the airframe before shooting the colours on. The most work was done in the filling and rubbing back of the seams. Some were quite easy to do and some were a bloody nightmare (underside of fuseage).
Now to put all the gear in her and see if she'll fly as good as she looks. Hoping to get the inside looking as good!!

Schroedm-RCU,
Bloody oath, that's one of my favorite schemes. I'll tell you what, European to European snikker snikker, I just ordered a 2.6m in white and blue, why don't I just ship that to you and you can ship yours to me. What a deal for you, you get a competely new plane, and I just get your old used plane, whatta ya say, deal?
Looks really great, I'd be interested in hearing the difference in weight before and after as well. What power plant are you going with? I also like the paint scheme with large water drops on white, but in the UK I can imagine it would have a tendency to become invisible in your rainfilled atmosphere he he.

RE: C-ARF 2.6m back from paint guy....
Guys,
Thanks for all the comments - I'm really pleased with the way it has turned out!!
As for the weight gain, I'm going to try and work that out as soon as possible. The guy that sprayed it is extremely clued up about keeping the weight down and put the tiniest amount of paint on that he know's he can get away with.
I'm not going mad trying to keep weight to a minimum. I'm just trying out a combination of new things I haven't tried before. Spec as follows...
DA100 with MTW cannister mufflers
25x12 3 blade prop
Megasmoke smoke system (now thinking about coloured smoke bombs on wing tips!!)
PowerBox 40/24
JR8411s all round
4 matchboxes
2 x 2400maH packs
It's not going to be light - reckon it'll end up about 28lbs which doesn't overly worry me as the idea wasn't to go all out lightweight anyway. Want to try and keep the internals as neat as possible too.

That is awesome!! That is one of my favourite schemes ever, i even did the blue drop scheme on my old 30% extra, see below. I'm eager to see what weight the paint was as i'm getting ready to spray my 40% model.
All the best and good luck with the test flights!

That is a bad ***** scheme. I hope you were good buddies with him if not that would cost a pretty penny here in the states! I checked into having mine airbrushed and I didn't want to spend that much in paint work. Look's great, let us know how she flies! Ricky

Never said I made the scheme up!
Been wanting to clone that model since I saw it!
Now I want a 2.3m Extra to do the yellow with blue paint drops scheme that Roland uses as his back up plane!

RickP,
Apparently, they're 1 pack acrylic photoreactive candy colours?!??! They react very well to the light - bright sun makes the yellow kind shine through the red drops making them shimmer orange every now and then.
