Default New Pilots

I just purchased several of these new pilots. These are the best molded pilots I have ever seen, very sharp detail. This site also has a great tutorial on how to paint pilot figures. I spoke with a rep. from the distributor who advised that they should have all sizes available very soon and are coming out with many more designs to include full bodied pilots.

I wonder what their civilian pilots will look like?

I have not seen a picture of the civilian pilot but I am very impressed with the detail in the ones I have. I purchased 2 of the 1/4 scale WW2 pilots and I think instead of putting them in an airplane after I detail them, I will put them in a glass dome and display them on my desk at work. I'll get a couple more for my airplane.
For those of you who are non-modeler, ARF only guys, I just found out that Balsa USA is selling them already painted.

Very good looking pilots, great "How To" on painting.

Can you post the approximate cost for these guys?

Thanks,
Dennis-

Seems like decent pricing, thanks. Suggested retail is usually quite a bit higher than actual price, so I'm hoping in the $11.99 to $18.99 range will be street price.

The MAP Intro. prices are: 1/4= $27, 1/5=$25, 1/5+1/7 = $19,+ FREE SHIPPING! Prices will increase slightly after the Toledo show, all Aces of Iron pilots are available thru www.perfectpilots.com or your local hobby shop.
Thanks for the great comments.

I'm looking for a 1/3 scale full body military pilot for my Bücker Jungmeister to be painted in the Swiss trainer scheme. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Balsa USA carries some of them either painted or unpainted. The painted ones are very expensive and painting is half the fun.

I checked out Balsa USA and they are all 1/4 scale busts and smaller made by Pilots of Iron. I really wish they would come up with a line if 1/3 scale full body pilots. The detail is great.

I bought 1/3 scale full body pilot for my Super Decathlon made by Officer and Gentleman but it is very heavy. I've also looked at Pilots by Diane and they are a bit pricy and not very realistic looking. Nice clothing though. There is a German site that sells pilots but since I don't read German I can't tell much about their products.

Guess I'll keep looking.

Another option for full body 1/3 scale pilots is a series of action figures called "Men of Honor". They sold for about $80 in Toys R Us but were not good sellers and have been off the shelves there for about a year. They are figures look like GI Joes but 1/3 scale (24" Tall), fully poseable (even the fingers bend) and have good detail. There was a sailor, a wake island style marine (perfect for average civilan pilot) and a dress blue marine. These figures are hard to find but appear on Ebay every once in a while.
