A friend of mine was charging overnigth his models, one of his chargers overheat and take fire. All the workshop fires, a lot of planes and years of hard work jus disapear: a 747 Jumbo with two turbines, a 4m 4 engines C-130, helis, etc, etc.
From those moment I remove the packs from the planes and the radio and charge it on a secure area.

While I have never heard of a charger fire. I have heard and experenced batteries causing a fire from over charging or improper discharging. That is why I always slow charge for over night.

I knew someone who had a melt down on the adaptor for a guitar effects pedal. Luckily he was in the room at the time it started to melt. I've never heard of a problem since, but it has made me somewhat paranoid!
