Fuselage in two pieces
Hi everybody,
I want to built a bigger scale model, about 80" to 100" wspan. The fuselage is about the same length.
Can I divide the fuselage in two parts, without having the risque of dangerous stress, and not to put too much excessive wheight in? (I would have to put servo's direct to rudders I guess)
The reason is that I sit in a wheelchair, and handling large parts during construction is difficult, as well as loading the car. (on the field there is lucky no problem, as this is a "team sport"...
Does anyone has an url where I can see an example?
Thanks,
Z.

Fuselage in two pieces
I wouldn't mess around with a two piece fuse. If it's ease of handling you're after, consider removable tail feathers, bascially a plug in and bolt together style tail. Some RTF trainers are set up this way.
The other possibility is to design a fuselage upper half and lower half, similar to TopFlight Gold Edition kits, but my guess is you're after shortening the overall fuse length for transport. Good luck!

Fuselage in two pieces
There are some scale modelers who've built things so large they HAD to make the fuselage be able to be broken in half for transport... (even with large trailers!)
Describing how to do it is a bit beyond what can be done adequately in this forum though...
It is a little known fact that some full scale aircraft, such as the Dehaviland Tiger Moth, have the ability for the fuselage to be taken in half for shipment with just minor fabric patching when they are reassembled. (the bolts for this on the Tiger Moth are just behind the rear cockpit)
