Traxxas 2.5 engine replacement plan
has anyone taken advantage of the lifetime engine replacement plan?
http://www.traxxas.com/support/howto...neexchange.htm
Did you bring it to your hobby shop or ship it to Traxxas? And how long did it take to get a new one back?
I think mine may be on it's last leg.

Yea the sirios are like $170 on ebay shipped and the fantoms are a bit cheaper. From what I hear those motors are easier to tune and hold a tune even better than the trx 2.5. So its basically your call. for bit more jing you can be gettin a better motor. I have a few of the 2.5 motors laying around and a brand new sirio .18 to go into my maxx when this 2.5 kicks the buckett...hopefully it wont be anytime soon though.

RE: Traxxas 2.5 engine replacement plan
And the traxxas replacement plan IMO is just another way for them to sell more of there crappy quality motors. WHen they run they run like a bat outta hell, other days they dont start and die. They claim that there plan offers the motor at half the price it would cost for a new one. But my LHS sells them brand new for $119 plus tax...so your really saving like 20 some ducketts. the motors dont sell for $210 anywhere unless maybe Alaska or Puerto Rico..Who knows! Id rather upgrade to a different motor with more power and displacement.

LOL, "Alaska or Puerto Rico" so I'm guessing noone has ever sent their 2.5 back. They sure sell a ton of em on Ebay.
I do plan on getting a P2, just seems like a waste of a used motor.

RE: Traxxas 2.5 engine replacement plan
I just replaced my 2.5 and my lhs took my old one on the spot and gave me another one rite there, no waiting. And this second one runs just as good as my last one. I've never had any problems with my 2.5 and my other buddies have the same engine and they have never had any problems with theres either

RE: Traxxas 2.5 engine replacement plan
I have had 100% success with the 2.5 I have.
I would get another one in a second, for two reasons-
1. My first 2.5 was and is an OUTSTANDING motor. It really hauls. It can out accelerate my Savage w/21 hyper 8 port (not top speed, but acceleration). I learned with it, it was forgiving, and it is my most reliable nitro. 2-3 pull starts everytime, and it only stops when I want it to stop. This thing hasn't stalled in like 4 months.
2. Traxxas stands wholeheartedly behind their products. If I get a 'bad' one, I know Traxxas will make it right. Some of the best customer support hands down.
I will continue to run and support it until the time I ever have problems with it.

RE: Traxxas 2.5 engine replacement plan
I burned up 2 2.5 motors, I thought it was tuning issues. It was the metal cracking around the crankshaft that leads me to believe they are P.O.S. It happened to both of them. Yeah their customer support is AWSOME! Now I ask you fellas, ever see the metal below the carb on any of your motors crack? Especially after babying the truck? Never seen it on any other engine i've owned. Now the Epic i own truly keeps up with big blocks on and off the track! 1 Pull and it starts.
It gets the front end up off the ramp and the low end is so nice. I recommend this motor alot if you don't go with the replacement program. 130.00 from stormer and i'd say 20-30% more power than the 2.5.
