I think 6 bolt hubs are a pain. Why is it needed?

I think any Gas engine over 50cc should have at least 4 hub bolts, but 6 on a 40cc is excesive in my book. Don't know why they do that it's got to cost more money to drill & tap the crank.
Drilling 6 holes in a 20 inch prop is a pain in the rear, and I feel is totally unnecessary .

My Quadra 35 has a 6 bolt hub and I paid extra to get it. Using the front washer as a guide makes drilling the prop a breeze.

I have added a cordless drill with a cut off 3mm hex key to my flight kit. It makes changing a prop easy

It's a safety issue and using one design across the line allows them to sell just one hardened steell drill jig. If you don't like it, there are other designs you can buy that don't use multiple bolts, but I have seen single bolt hubs strip and also slip with less that good results. I have used both and you get used to them. If you use an electric driver, it's less inconvenient changing props. You can buy a cheapie Chinese battery powered drill for about $15.

Why not notch the propeller in two areas to let studs in the hub to fit in the holes. This way the assembly stays balanced and you don't have to deal with lining up all those holes.

Why do you have to use all 6? Just use 3 on the smaller motors. Still be balanced. On smaller motors that have a center bolt, I like the stud idea.

6 bolts should not be a problem. If you have to change props that often, maybe there is a problem with how one flies. You should not be breaking props that often with these models.

3 years and 150 flights on the same prop that I made. Just removed it to sell the airplane.

hobbsy

I go across the Potomac and through Charles county on my way to Andrews.. I've flown at the charles county site a couple few times... not a bad place to fly... stop at Doug's every time I'm up that way...
