Yellow F-14 help, turbine conversion
Hi Guy's,
Ok I need input, I want to put 2 P-80's in my Yellow F-14. I need any help with this Idea from you guy's out there. The plane is about 95% done. Are the wings strong enough? How much fuel per engine. A good weight for this plane? Carbone fiber strength area's? Thank you for all input.

who do you think you are...
You cant just come to this forum and start talking about a Yellow F-14 and twin P-80 's and not post any pics...

I'M NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE LAYOUT OR INNER WORKING OF THE F-14. MYSELF AND 2 FRIENDS HAVE BUILT 3 OF THE BIG F-18'S AND HAVE HAD GREAT SUCCESS. MY FIRST F-18 WAS A RETRO FIT FROM A TWIN DUCTED FAN THAT I HAD BEEN FLYING FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS. THE 3 I MENTIONED WERE BUILT FOR TURBINES FROM KIT FORM. WE MADE NUMEROUS MODS TO THE KIT, ESPECIALLY IN THE MAIN FORMERS & SPARS. WE ALSO MADE SOME CHANGES FROM PLANS ON SERVO LOCATION & FUEL SYSTEM. YOU MIGHT FIND THAT A SINGLE LARGE ENGINE WITH BIFURCATED PIPE MIGHT MAKE THE PLANE LIGHTER AND MORE FRIENDLY..JUST A THOUGHT.. I WOULD SUGGEST CONTACTING BOB FURINZE (SP) AND CHAT WITH HIM. HE HAS BUILT AND FLOWN MANY F-14'S OVER THE YEARS. I WOULD HAVE TO SAY HE KNOWS AS MUCH OR MORE ABOUT THEM THAN ANYONE.. GOOD LUCK ON THE PROJECT, GET THAT THING AIRBORNE & BRING IT TO SUPERMAN THIS FALL..

You're probably gonna find that you won't be able to do the single-engine thing because of the flat center fuselage. It works great on the Hornet, though. I'd LOVE to see that go, though.

Yeah I wish she would take the single. I was told by a couple of folks I should not have a problem with the set up. I think I will be fine,,,,,,,,,,, till I see her rotate :rainfro: pirate:
