YA F-15 Maiden Flight Today!! Video UP
We flew it today!! Two perfect flights. I thought I had my video download card with me but I don't. Hope to post video tomorrow.
Flights were awesome and without issue. Thanks to TAM, Johnny (I'll think of a way to poke fun at him later), Roger, Todd, BoBO, Ken, DavidR, and my partner in crime Beau.
This weekends flights and next weekends were flown in the official David Crawford Isobar paint scheme (you know they only come in one color) and it will be painted before Austin Jet Meet.
Simply spectacular!

Beautiful flight!!!! I can't believe that someone would be rude enough to fly when you are up on a second flight.[>:] At our field, we give jet pilots the sky to them selves unless they say they want company. It is not a rule, just polite We extend the same curtisy to most larger scale pilots or when several guys want to run their race planes on the race course really quick!!! [8D] keep up the sweet landings too......
By the way, who was running the camera?? If that was your wife or girlfriend you are a very luck man. Mine would rather smash them then help me[X(]

Thanks again guys, we love the YA F-15 as well. Does anyone know if there is another manufacturer Tire than YA that will fit the RIM/wheel. The YA tire is very very soft and I'd like to try some alternatives for backup.
This is going to be a great season,
Jeremy Ferguson, if you read this please call me at my office today around 11am central toll free at 800-580-1995, I have a few questions for you.

Sean,
Are you the same guy I talked with on the phone about F-15s several times? If so, congrats. I believe BV has tires that will work on the Y/A F-15 wheels (which you shouldn't have any problems at all with--they're nice wheels with good brakes). Nice video too.

Hi Ron, we're using a JetCat P-120. This one has ailerons, Flaps, Speed Brake, cylinder operated canopy, and scale gear doors. If you have any other questions let me know. I love this airplane, I made a website for it at www.my87.com/planes/f15

Sean,
I'm not sure what you mean when you say it flies 'heavy' If you mean, did the takeoff roll seem to last forever, YES. On landings, though, mine was a major floater. I used full flaps (60 degrees) and a lot of elevator. I had a total of 6 deadstick landings with the airplane, and on each one except the last one, the airplane came back home from far away (and what seemed like insurmountable odds...). KFalcon witnessed two of them, and he can attest to its ability to float home. On the last one, I found the ONLY sapling for miles, and it bent up my gear and cracked up the nose a bit. Mind you, I was only flying on a P-80 when the takeoffs were long. With a P-160, my takeoffs seemed short. After reviewing the video of it, I went back and measured the distance from stop to unstick, and it was 82'. On a P-160, the plane flew at roughly the same speed perpendicular to the earth as it did horizontal!
On a P-80, I was able to loop the airplane in level flight, and immediately after leveling out from a full-throttle, minimum-radius turn. This was toward the end of the flight, when my tanks weren't full, also.
Another reason my takeoffs were so labored is that I was carrying roughly 120 oz. onboard, and another 45 oz. in a modified BVM centerline tank. For all that tonnage, the P-80 flew it quite impressively.
I will have the plane flying again (though probably still in primer) at Best in the West. Again, nice job!

RE: Tease!
First I must admit, I wasn't real close to the monitor and you had me going for the first static shot or two! Then you get on with the good part...the flying and I see 3 seconds of it! This was the demo video and then I saw the first flight video.
Looks like you have a winner! Best of luck to you!
Joe

Hey Shaun!
Yes, the Y/A F-15 floats so far with no power on it is almost unbelievable! I really though the worst when the motor shut off because it was sooo far away and low. (The only time they seem to shut off!)
It really is an amazing bird!
