WOW
HEY MICHAEL, LOOKS LIKE ANOTHER AWESOME PAINT JOB ON ONE OF THOSE (oh excuse me, I'll turn off my CAPS LOCK now). . .one of those panthers. Man, what an awesome model, too bad all the panthers have the same paint job and look (predictably) the same as one another. Anyway, way to go.

As my user name shows, I love Panthers. What kit or plans is yours?
Heavybird
You're right, there's not a lot of paint schemes for Panthers. Mine is the Blue Tail Fly. A natural Aluminum Panther with the tail section from an insignia blue one.(my avatar). I'm working on a 1/5th scale (91") version, and plan to make it an XF9F-2. All aluminum, polished, without the wing tip tanks.

Good luck with your Panther. Keep us informed on the project.

Hey wd-40. i just posted another thread on the ziroli plan of this jet. I was told your is ziroli. How was the building and all. Is it a hard plan to build, also how does it fly. I am super interested in putting a mw54 in it to fly scale and not 200 mph. Thanks, and if you have any pix of the building, and finished acft, you can email em to me @ [email protected]. thanks, nick

Panther!
I wasn't sure if the photo was to big for the thread. It seemed to work okay.
The kit is the same size as Ziroli's Panther. It is made by Cato Horton in Norway, it has a glass fuse and foam sheeted wings. I installed a P80 turbine, Century Jet retracts and a JR radio. The plane is 2 1/2 years old and it has 35 flights on it. It is a nice flying plane. No bad habits, just don't get it to slow on landing approach.
Love the Panther!

I Know that you asked Ken, but I wanted to show the Email message I recieved from Cato Horten in March of this year. I had just learned of his endevors in the Panther arena and had asked the same question.
First, my question to him.....
"I have just recently been made aware of the existance of your F9F kit. I would like to know if it is still available, and the approxamate cost.
Thank You,
Johnny Adkins"
then, his response.....
"Hello
The kit are no longer available sinze I have decidet to close down my busines.
Best Regards
Cato Horten"
If anyone knows of a suitable replacement for tis kit, I would like to know too.

Glass Panther!
When I contacted Ziroli for the plans and related parts for the Panther, I inquired if they had a glass fuse for the plane. His son stated they would have one in about six months. They offer a glass fuse for several of his planes he has designed. After several months I call and was informed they were not going to make one because there was not enough interest in the Panther. So, if enough people contacted them with interest for one they might reconsider and make a mold to lay them up.
It would be worth a try, a glass fuse would make the building and finishing a lot faster. Then if a person wanted to make foam wings for the plane you would have the templates from the plans.
Regards,
Ken...........

I got it from my buddy Earl Schimmel, who got it from a swap meet in South Bend. Would you believe $100.00? I bought a canopy for it from Nick at the WRAM show, $20.00. Robart Gear $315.00.
Still needs the Glennis wheels and brakes $380.00. and a turbine thrust tube. $180.00? I think.
It'll be next in line after I get my new Mig-29 done.

Panther conversion
I just wanted to ask for any advise on converting a Ziroli Panther to turbine. I've been flying mine for about 3 yrs on D/F and I'm starting to put a JetCat P-80 in. What kind of upgrades were used to go from D/F to turbine? My fus. is one of the first glass ones by Leading Edge Models when the plans came out. When I built it, I reinforced the glass with carbon fiber cloth. My radio gear is Futaba 7UAP with S-130 BB servos on ailerons and Airtronics 94102 BB on flaps and 2 ea Air. 94102 BB on elev. I'm not interested on going real fast, 140 - 150 is about the fastest I want to go. I think the wing and tail structure will be strong enough. It's fiberglass/resin finished on all wood parts. Anybody have any experience on this conversion?
Thanks, Wayne

Hi Panthers lovers,
This is one of Cato's replicated Panther. Flying with our 12lbs PST J600 turbine. Fly very good at AUW of 22lbs (2 liters of fuel).
Since Cato no longer make the Panther and went out of business, we have some people here in Thailand that make the same fiberglass fuse with very good & light weight quality.
Interested? If quantity is right, they may go into production again. I know that they still have the mold. (Last time I paid USD600 for the fuse+planked wings+wing tanks+canopy+all woods)
