What 40% Extra RTF for free would you take..
Hey guys just for entertainment purposes, if you had to pick from these planes what would be your choice of 40% Extra airframe RTF set up the way you want it, and why if you have time to post...

I like the Carden's primarly just because I have flown it before and it flew so great I can't imagine something flying any better...

Not sure, but he is a known and respected flyer, and definately ROCK..
Here is his EXACT words.
Here is his EXACT words.
I personally would not go with a Carden. I think there are alot better planes out there like 3W, Columbo Anderson's, and AW. All three of these aircraft are lighter than the Carden by a few pounds. I have flown some of the best looking and built Cardens out there. I have always gone right back to the other birds I mentioned and would never want to change. The firt time I flew Joe's pristine Carden extra I put that babby right on the deck and did some freestyle stuff. I flew out after about 10 mins and said to Joe "you would do so much better with a different plane." I think he pretty much agreed with me. My newest bird is a 38% Colombo Anderson. Kit quality is with the best of the best, price is better than the rest, and they fly very well. Take care.

He seems strong in his opinion John I just have always heard the opposite, the guys at the flyin's say if you ever fly a Carden you will never go back,, The only 40%er I have flown is a carden so I can not say it is better but opinion is just that, It handled well smooth creeped in on landings, don't know how it can possibly get any better unless some of the other planes do some of the 3D manuevers better for some reason,[sm=spinnyeyes.gif]

I got my statement from my buddy Elton Fairless placed 5th in the XFC 2002 and 8th in the 2003, and is a Masters competitor.

Unless you guys are TOC Pilots then the local yokels are the best reviewers because they fly what they like and can afford what ever works best for them. I have a Carden and a Comp-Arf, they both do everything really well but with a different feel, which points out that everything is a compromise and your flying style might like a plane that flys like a hot knife through butter even at slow speeds (Comp-Arf) or a bit draggy (Carden) with more time to react to what you want to do. Don't buy something just because somebody who is sponsored tell you what he thinks is best, try to fly different things and make your own decision.
$0.025 worth.

I have last years XFC tape and I thought Elton's routine was awesome.
Not really part of this thread but I'd just thought I'd chime in.

No offense John, but I put 0 ZERO credit to what Garrett has too say. I know he's a better pilot than I will ever dream about being,But I don't care for his arrogant attitude or his VERY biased opinions.JMHO

Hey Maverick I can tell you already. There are things the Carden does very well and things the CA does very well. I really like my CA for freestyle stuff and playing. I have not had a chance to try alot of pattern flying with it yet but it should really kick but there as well. The thing the Carden has going for it is that it is very durable. Alot easier to get in and out of the trailer with out fear of breaking it. I have both and will keep both.

Just a guess but, Garret likes hot rods... A Carden simply won't go there. There really is big difference in the models listed, Extra's or not.
Weight and or wing loading is paramount for a hot rod.
I'd liken a Carden to NASCAR stock-car and the Colombo Anderson to a Porsche. Both get the job done!
It kind of depends on your interests too! IMAC or Freestyle?
Or best of both worlds; according to whom?
Garret's an incredible pilot, he likes what he likes and the rest of us draw our own conclusions... The 3W Extra Garret fields is an awesome machine, you simply have to hear it make a pass with the carbon 3W-3D prop to understand...
I have seen Garret beat on lots and lots of models over the years. Opinionated, YEAH. However anything offered is drawn from his expertise and knowledge base. You won't likely find to many other pilots with his hands-on experience.
