Default Dragonfly Mixer/Gyro Location and setup?

G'day Electric Heli Gurus

I've had a troll through the forums but have not been able to get the answer to the following. Hoping someone out there can point me in the right direction.

Just bought a Dragonfly heli. When it arrived I expected to see separate components for the ECS/mixer and the gyro. Mine came with a combined mixer speed gyro that is not fitted. Unfortunately, the instructions have no guidance on installing it, and do not even mention how to work it.

My questions (see attached sketch of the unit):
1. How is the gyro positioned on the chopper? (I understand it goes on the back of the chopper but must be orientated correctly?).
2. There are two pots - Gain and Proportional. Do I need to stuff with these or leave well enough alone? Understand the Gain but no idea on the Proportional.
3. M1 and M2 are obviously for main rotor and tail rotor. Which is which? Scared to apply power in case there's a chance of doing damage (to medel and self!!)

The unit is an E-SKY MIXER SPEED GYRO CONTROL SYSTEM (Model number EMSGOA).

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. This is my first venture into the black art of heli flying (have done a lot with planes) and I'm taking baby-steps.

thanks to all.

Default RE: Dragonfly Mixer/Gyro Location and setup?

Hi tamey,
i've flown an e-sky and as i know it, the gyro is mounted in the front/nose of the heli. This comes in the package.
About gain and setup/proportional, as has been discussed in many forums, gain is for the strength of the tail motor (it influences how strong the rpm of the tail motor), as for the proportional, it has something to do with how sensitive you want the changes of the tail motor when receiving input from your tx.
So, if your heli is spinning Clockwise (CW) at neutral, then that means that the tail motor is too strong/too much rpm meaning that you have to turn down your gain.... and vice versa.
The best setup, most say, is that when the LED flashes green and red/orange.
About M1 and M2, i forgot because it was my friend's heli so i don't have it with me right now.

Default RE: Dragonfly Mixer/Gyro Location and setup?

I have an E-Sky HoneyBee
The gyro/speed control rig is on the nose.
M1 is the Main motor (throtle). M2 is the Tail motor.
M1 is on the bottom of the speed control, and the Posetive terminal is the bottom connector.
M2 is at the top (near the LED and GAIN/PROPORTION settings). The Posetive terminal on this is at the top.
I didnt have to fiddle with the GAIN or PROPORTION settings... should be fine leaving them pointing straight up.
Remember, when connecting the CH3 and CH4 connectors to the reciever, the ORANGE wire should be towards the inside of the reciever with the black towards the end.

Hope this helps :-)
