Default Skymaster SAAB Gripen painted, 343 FDNY tribute

Rather than start a new post, I'll just add to this first one, the original post is down below. Anyway, I got the paint on the Gripen done today, here are the pictures, I'm real anxious to fly this bird now

Well, I got the majority of the paint on the Gripen today, I was going to do a wild sport scheme again, then decided I didn't really have that much free time, or that much desire to do anything complex, so I was talking to a friend of mine who is on NYPD, and we got talking about 911 and the firefighters who died. 911 is to me, like many of you, very very close to my heart, and those men and women that died trying to save others have nothing but my utmost respect, so here are some pics of my Gripen so far, hope you like them

Outstanding Jeremy!

Although I like your paint work on the other jets you have done, they are not my taste...... This however is the nuts

Steve,
When I built the spectre it was the only other jet I had, when I got the Gripen all the equipment from the Spectre went into that, so for now, the Spectre is just a display piece, which I'm ok with, after all those hours of paint I want to get some more turbine experience before flying it. I just think it will be a handful with 18 pounds of thrust on board.

I'm glad everyone likes this one so far, I was a little worried about doing a in memory of type idea on here, I wanted to make sure it was in the best possible taste so that nobody was offended, I find when you do a tribute piece to something like 911, like the guitar I built for it, some people just take offence for reason's I'll never understand.

This one just seems so unfinshed to me since it was only in paint for about 6 hours compared to the 40 to 60 most jets get LOL, maybe I'll take longer with my final clear coat LOL!!!!

Glad everyone likes it I will have pictures of it with all the pieces on today for you to check out It looks awesome in person, I put a very heavy pearl in the clear as well as in the red itself, this bird glistens with red, violet, gold and blue pearl The fin and wings got a simple lettering treatment that is very effective, and tasteful. Pics later today

Thank you for the compliment, but I'm certainly no god with an airbrush, I just have fun with it. You just need to check out some guys like Craig Fraiser, K daddy, Vince Goodeve etc to see amazing airbrush work, I'm kind of a disciple of Craig Fraiser, I think his work is incredible, Vince is a fellow Canadian who is amazing as well.

I almost have the jet ready to go now though, doing the turbine install at the moment

Well,
The Gripen is done, final dry weight with RAM750 is 21 pounds. Not bad for a bird this size I don't think, now if the weather would co-operate I would be able to fly it. It was 80 degrees yesterday, and snow on the ground again today, oh yes, isn't canada a lovely place

Now thats just a nice colour, better finish than my bmw car. While im here, may i ask what setup you using for conards and rear elevons, im new to these conards types and just wondering if il get away with just using the front conard as elevator only.

Good luck on your maiden flight.
Don't go to far out. Red is not easy color to kept track.
Job well done BTW.

motofox,
The canards are mixed with the Elevons for pitch control, I don't really know if the canards would have enough power to be used for pitch alone, I don't think they are used alone on the full scale either.

Tam,
Yeah, red does dissappear, I have a big white sunburst on the bottom of the wing to help, but anything will be easier to see than my Exocet, irridescent colors just literally dissappear in every sky, poooooooooor color choice LOL!!!
