Where can you get Lawnboy Ashless at???
I have a new DA 50 and I am ready to fire it up and need to know where to get Lawnboy oil at as the DA recommends it for the first 5 gallons.
Thanks,

Lawn Boy is hard to find around here. Lowe's and Home Depot do not sell Lawn Boy in my area (L.A. suburbs). I tried the local Mom and Pop hardware stores with no success either. I haven't tried Sears or OSH...I'll give them a shot.

I found the LB ashless at a lawnmower repair shop. Lawnboy authorized dealer too, come to think of it.

P-51,
we had a ban on 2 stroke leaf blowers and such a few years ago. I have been all over the place looking for the oil. All said it can't be sold in LA county. THats all I know and it happened when they banned the blowers. You can get all kinds of cheap synthetic though. I wish what you say was true because I hate to mail order something like oil but have had to. I got a buddy in SD maybe I'll have him check the sears store.
The environmentalist have got to it I think.

Ashless isn't necessary, Klotz, Stihl or any quality chainsaw oil will do the same. Unless you are concerned with the warranty. try 32:1 for a gallon or so then 50:1
the above will work unless there some concern regarding the bearings or seal material.

I was told the same thing by others...and instead just went with what Dave at DA reccommended.
Took a bit of extra effort but I am sure as sunshine that if I have any problem DA will back me without question.
As stubborn as I am, I just bucked up and found the LB.

First off, The EPA is a nasty breed here in So Cal. They are banning 2 stroke jet ski's, working on 2 stroke boats and trying to outlaw 2 stroke bikes!
The Lawnboy is kind of an industry standard... the viscosity and temperament of it allows the motors just enough friction to allow a speedy wear and breakin. Most other oils are a better blend and dont allow wear as much. Particularly the synthetics which hinders breakin because of its excellent qualities. You could use Amsoil but wont see breakin for 10-12 gallons of fuel.

As with any product it is always better to follow the manufacturers recommendations for warranty coverage. But there are always alternatives that will also work equally well. Call Dave for his opinion to be safe.

Scooter;
Have your dad bring some up next trip. It's available in several places here in the Bluff. Heard you traded the DA though.

RE: Where can you get Lawnboy Ashless at???
Robert,
I found all I could ever want of it locally. There is a lawnmower shop here that sells Stihl products and lawnboy stuff and they had a ton of it for $1.49 a can. I got all I ever needed. I decided to keep the DA and have made my mind up to put it in a WH Edge I think. I sure do like the Double Vision of Chip Hyde's but a little too expensive for me. What I really want is the new Carden Cuda 3D, but I can't seem to talk Dad into building it. I could, but he is retired. He likes to build and I like to fly so that has always worked good for us.
If anybody needs and oil let me know it is $1.50 a can and my local shop has gobs of it.

RE: Where can you get Lawnboy Ashless at???
I bought a Troy Built weedeater (I went 4-stroke) the other day (I plan to actually cut weeds with it...) and I was looking at the different models listed on the sales brochure. For just about every different model there was a "special" version specifically to be sold in California only. I bought a $7000 top of the line 2-stroke Seadoo in 2000 that sits in the garage because there's no place to ride anymore! CARB/EPA laws can really suck, ya know?

For the So Cal flyers, I bought my Lawnboy ashless oil at, Sav-On Drug store!!
I checked at several other Sav-On's and they also carried the LB Ashless.
Go check your local store in the automotive stuff aisle.

Well it definately has not been banned by the EPA. It may be the CEPA (california epa[:@]) victimizing those who keep electing them. I went to Home Depot today and bought a few cans for $1.49 each. They had cases and cases and cases of it on the shelves. If your in CA, until you elect some new people, you may have to road trip out of state[].
