CG Sanity Check on Extra Special Please
2.5 Inches from the leading edge OF THE WING TIP? Is this correct? Does this mean I should prop the plane up on milk jugs etc. from the OUTSIDE ENDS of the wings? This seems strange to me as I am use to using the leading edge measured FROM THE FUSE. I know what bad CG settings can do, so I would appreciate any comments on this issue. I am a basic sport flier who likes a very forward CG. Thanks Much

2.5" at the tip is correct per the manual WildHare's web site.
I going to try a string from wing tip to wing tip and by looking down measure how far back at the fuse.
I can then use my Great Planes C.G. MACHINE.
Below is the link to the website. The manual is titled "Edge 540T Manual" but it has been updated to inclued the Extras. See page 23.

hmmmm, string. That is a pretty good idea. I have the same CG machine but I think this plane might be pushing the weight envelope for it? I guess I was also asking why the distance was given for the wing tips when it is usually provided from the fuse?

I think the wing tip distance is so you and a helper can each use a finger at the wing tip to check balance. No balance machine needed.
I checked the CG Machine's box, says it good to 40 lbs.

I balanced my Wild Hare Edge on the Great Planes balancer, no problems. I'm also going to tie a string from tip to tip on the Extra to find the point next to the fuse to balance on. Sounds like that should work just fine.
