EuroSport Intakes
I have a set of intakes i bought from Comp-Arf. One side fits and the other side does not clear the upper LG Bracket. Also both are twisted at the top to the inside at the turbine end of the intakes.
Frankly I am tired of screwing with the Waste of 150 dollar intakes (from Comp-Arf) . I will have to Cut and Mod them to fit.
Do i Really Have to Have them ? And what Will i Gain or Lose (besides $150) If I just Not use them right now?
Any Input will Help.
Chris

I'm sorry to hear that. Tam Jets have the inlets for the Eurosport at same $$$, better quality. You can check Todd's web page for ES
modifications. www.dreamworksrs.com click on tips.

I bought my Eurosport intakes from Intairco, they fit very well and are partly removeable to allow maintenance. As always, Intairco's price is very reasonable. See their web site they advertise on this site.

I have a similar question. If the inlets are used, do you have to use the bypass and custom pipe from Tam?
Can you use the stock motor mount and tail pipe that comes with the kit if you use the inlets?
Thanks

RE: EuroSport Intakes
I have never seen the C-ARF intakes to know if they are any good or not..... Tams intakes fit perfectly, what's the problem you have with them? I was a little dissapointed with last set of tams I fitted, the glass was a bit thinner than the others I have recieved from him but still worked just fine.
MSSHORT,
Inlets have no affect on the motor mount or pipe so....yes you can still use them.
While the Euro does fly ok without the intakes, it does fly MUCH better with them. I have flown them both ways and without the intakes you can feel and see the aircraft buffeting, the intakes remove this completely. Not to mention the FOD potentional from the nose gear without them.

Love2flyrc,
Thanks for the reply. One more question. I am convinced that the intakes will help the aircraft fly better so it would be worth getting them. However, do you see any benifit from installing the bypass? From what I have seen, they are not directly connected. (At least I haven't seen one yet.) My intent is to buy the inlets and use the supplied materials from there back. See any problem with it performance or otherwise?
Thanks

MS....
Actually, that is exactly what you want to do. You dont want a bypass on this aircraft! Bypass will increase top speed at the cost of static thrust..... Static is what you want for this aircraft, no bypass

The mouth of the intakes does not fit like in your pics. Also at the rear top of the intakes ,closer to the turbine, is twisted. I was going to use your mod to remove the intakes but if i use these they would have to be Glued puttied and sanded to make them fit. I may get my Friend to bring the TAM intakes over to see if they Fit. Ill snap some pics of my problem for you and Post it here. I work on a daily basis with Fiberglass, Carbon and Kevlar. So moding the intakes to fit Would not Be a big deal But......... I really dont think i should have paid that price if i have to Rebuild them . I know I know Rick tells me all the Time "Welcome to Turbine Jets "
Dont take this post as Neg to Comp Arf. I like this EuroSport And I like that Yak. I just hope they will take a look at this problem.
I am just itching to fly it.

I like that mod you did with the stock ABS intake cover. If i get to mad at this, That is what Ill try next.
And Buy Stuff From DreamWorks Todd was Very Helpfull.

RE: EuroSport Intakes
Chris,
I am assuming the C-arf intakes are like Tams? Are they seamed at the inner top? If so you can break the glue joint to relieve the twist. What is the issue with the front of them, perhaps I can help there as well?

Chris,
I know what you mean, I have the same C-arf intakes.
I just cut away some fiberglass at the seam line next to the engine ( about 1/4"wide and 6" long in triangle shape), then re-seamed the intakes, this resolved the twist problem. I also reinforced them with some carbon fiber as they were very soft. Now the intakes could fit satisfactorily in the front too, with just fine trimming necessary. However I did not make them removable. All in all I was really disapointed with them and would not recommend them to anybody, just go for tam's or intairco, they can't be worst than what I have!
cheers
Florent

You describe in detail how to mount the intakes in the front to make them removable on your excellent website, but how have you mounted them at the engine end?
Since the diameter of the two halves together are less than the fuselage bulkhead cut-out, you have to secure them somehow.
Do you just silicone them together and let the glue flange of the inlets, make them fit the larger hole.
Could you explain why you loose static thrust having the engine bypass in place?
Regards
Thomas
