I have a aerohawk which I unfortunely don't have as much time to play with as I'd like(gotta work). any how I just upgraded to a like 90 kit with blades, head stiffener, and johnson motor....I haven't insalled the blades or stiffener yet, just the motor(want to get better at hovering before I trash the new blades.....as soon as iI powered up. it blew the 5 amp quick blow fuse I have comin from the pos. side of the battery..Anybody know why, scared to death of trying it again with a new fuse.....hate to trash the board....havin a hard time getting this bird to do anything but crash....Any help would be appreciated....I can't always check back here as often as I like to(that damn work thing again) but will check back as soon as I can to see if anybody can help a struggling wannabe chopper pilot, not just idiot with a $200.00 plus numberous $$$in parts....

If you've ONLY installed the Motor, then that looks like the culprit

Put a SMALLER Ampage fuse in

REMOVE the Johnson motor

Power-up - check there's no harm been done

Re-fit the original motor

Check again (you may have to reinstate a 5 Amp fuse at this point)

Now that the Johnson motor is off the heli - you can test that on its own

Do you have access to a multimeter
If so you can connect the Johnson to some batteries & use the meter to check Volts/Current draw
(might be worth building a fuse into the test rig as well)

Hi flh.
I got your e-mail, I will jsut post the answer here for the benefit of all.
WE sell the Johnson motor with your choice of pinion. To use the Johnson with like90 blades, you should use a 10 tooth pinion. If you use the Johnson with the stock blades, the motor will pull more current and you will blow the fuse. To use the Johnson with your stock blades, you need to use a 9 tooth pinion.
Also, the Johnson with the like90 blades does pull a little more current that your stock setup. If you really feel the need to use a fuse, then put the fuse between the motor and the board, not the battery and the board. If you add the tail motor, main motor, gyro, receiver and servo's current draws all up, they are bound to blow the 5A fuse.

Hey guys thanks for the comments---makes sense yukonho, about the pinion. Will put the stock motor back in til I'm a little better flyer, than cut loose with the 250 motot and blades--can't wait...just one more question, If I put the fuse between the motor and the board, than the board would not be protected, right and that is what I want to save from burnin out---maybe 2 fuses??? I guess I lied--another question, does anyone know how to correctly install a swashball in a aerohawk, on the top side or the bottom side of the swashplate..Thanks again for all the help---

Sidebar--Anyone interested in ordering frome Like90--I strongly recommend them--My parts came packaged so well that I don't think the USP could even damage them--5 stars.....

Your board will be protected since it is the main motor that would be drawing too much current. If the motor draws too much current, the fuse blows and then there is no load on the board. For the record, I have never used a fuse and never blown anything. I replace my motor when it starts to lose power, and always cut my throttle as I am about to crash.
The swashball gets installed from the top.
