Default and with DA 50, 3W 50 or DA50?

Hi!!!
I'm going to buy a CAmodel Extra 27% and I don't know what engine and with what muffler I should buy. The producer of the airplane recommend me the 3W 50, but I don't know the advantages of this engine over the DA50.

I need your advice

Thank you very much

DA sells a pitts muffler, it looks almost exactly like the Bisson Pitts. The stock muffler is an incowl muffler and is very light and not restrictive, just use the stock muffler and save some money and weight.[8D]

The Pitts muffler that DA sells is a Slimline. It's a nice design in that it has a bracket that attaches to the cylinder head so it does not vibrate keeping it rigid.

DA sells two different style pitts mufflers for the 50, what looks like a Bisson and Slimline. And the slimline comes with smoke and with out.

Here is a picture of the Slimline w/out smoke.

I'll let someone with more experience with this engine answer that question, but I belive the Slimline knocks off about 100-200 RPM from the top end and is a little heavier and is not as loud as the others.

Doesn't matter on a 15lb. 27% CA Extra which muffler you use.The plane will be a rocket at half throttle with either muffler with any prop so that is just not an issue.
I have CA 27% with a Brison 3.2 it's MORE than enough power.The DA 50 can pull a 20 lb.plane so a 15 lb. plane will not be a problem.

Just finishing a CA 27% extra. I'am using a DA 50 with slimline pitts style muffler, it fits the best under the cowl. You will have chop a lot of the front of the cowl for a bisson, because the header part of the muffler is quite large. I have both mufflers. You won't have a power issue. DA 50, bisson pitts, msc 22x8 prop, on my hanger 9 80 inch cap, 16.2 pounds pulls unlimited vertical.

I've been running the slimline pitts with smoke and slimline pro smoke pump on separate channel to regulate fluid on my DA 50. I had problems with the smoke pump and sorted it out and now works fine. I get about 6 minutes of smoke with 10 oz tank.

Also, I went with a 14 oz. gas tank to keep flying weight lower. You could go with a 12 oz tank once the engine is broken in. You will get 12-14 minutes before you're on fumes. depends on how you fly.

If you go with the larger tanks 20 + 20. you get the idea.

I bought the engine and slimline pitts with smoke directly from DA.

here is a pic.
