what car dose a girl like me need to start with ?
I'm new to R/C . I have always wanted to get into this hobby since I wazz about 8 , now im 15 . The main reason is because thare is no hobby shop within 50 miles of my place and the guys are alwazz laghing at me for trying to get into the sport being a girl an all . I'm just wondering what should my first be . I'm thinking some kind of electric 4x4 like that xb hummer kit since my father drove one in his old army days . I don't know ? ? ? . . .[sm=confused.gif][sm=confused.gif][sm=confused.gif][sm=kiss.gif]

Welcome,
great to see that more girls are getting in to the hobby. When it comes to electrics I have no clue...why not get a nitro?

Welcome to the boards.
There's a few main electric 4wd models around.
Check out the Tamiya Blazing Star, Traxxas E-Maxx as well as the Losi XXX-4.
If you're not planning on racing though, it doesn't really matter what you get, so long as you have fun with it!

Holy crap a girl! [X(] Good to see girls getting into this hobby. Tamiya twin detonator is 4X4 and is good for beginners.

Do they race in your area or just bash around? What do you think you'll spend more time doing? Do the guys in your area run nitro or electric? Welcome to the board!

You dont even have a radioshack?!? Well I was 13 when i got my first actuall rc car the duratrax evader st. Thats a good car for off roading but its only 2wd. But most people go to the direction of the Evader. Gas or Electric. If you want a 4wd you would want to bet on the XXX-4 its so good. If you want to get a car and since there are no hobby shops. Go get your stuff online like tower hobbies and Horizon Hobby.

id have to say skip the 4 wheel drive trucks,,, if your looking to bash get a traxxas rustler(its electric, low cost, and a great little truck)... if you want onroad id suggest tc3 or xxx-s.... if you want an MT eh emaxxs quickly get expensive as starter trucks, so id have to either say a clodbuster or stampede or tlt1..... for nitro id have to say get a 1/8 buggy or a savage, these things can be used onroad or offroad are good for racing or bashing, and are both fun vehicles.

I would say go to towerhobbies.com and see what you like.
I would recomend a duratrax rtr evader st or bx.
I dont know how much driving experience you have.....so the one year stress tech should help you alot!
Good Luck and welcome to RCU.

I am thinking that with no hobby shops or people about to ask Nitro might not be the best option... besides, having to get all your fule mailed to you can get pretty pricy too.....
My first "propper" RC was a Tamiya MadBull...not that I would recomend it.
But I did pick up a yokomo Mr4-BC - (the old one, not the new special) for pocket money, it was great to build, it all went together perfectly, handles like a dream (esp compared the the madbull), has all the grown up bits to fiddle with like ride hight, camber, toein.... and if you get bitten by the racing bug can be hopped up to something fairly competitive.....

RE: what car dose a girl like me need to start with ?
ok... anyway....
If I were you, looking for a 4WD truck, an electric... I'd go with a Twin Detonator... I'm 15 too and I found that 4WD buggies are alot easier to maintain and work on then 4WD trucks....
I'd go with one of those.... most likely the Losi XXX-4, it's the best out there... Trucks... I would go with a 2WD like the T3 or T4, I have a lot of different trucks, cars, and buggies, so I have a variety.... Buggies are the fastest, ST's are the best overall, cars are pretty great overall too, but you said you were looking for a truck... have at it!

yeah I agree with him... I'm also 15.... I've had a ton of different cars, trucks, buggies and all... by far I would have to say that ST's and 2WD buggies are better... Harder to drive and are a lot faster... but they are sweet... I know a guy who's running a Losi XXX-4 w/ a brushless system, it's pretty cool.... Right now I'm in the process of building a rock crawler so... but like he said.... Have at it

brushless systems are the best systems you can buy for electric... it is basically a motor that is designed to have no brushes on the armature... it runs really fast and is pretty high in price.... prices range (for a new one of course) from $190-$650+, If I were you, and you are looking to go fast, get a hot mod motor (like D6 or D5) or a decent stock motor like a P2k2 or a P2k2 pro....
Hope this helps
