Default new electric design and video

hey Bros
got to fly my newest creation today, in keeping with my “go against tradition as much as possible” philosophy, it has a thin almost flat wing like my razor design with double taper an AXI 2808-24 10x3.8APC on 2100TP 3s1p lipo, CC 35amp ESC, its drawing about 20amps on this prop.
This video is of the first real flight I had on it besides cg and trimming.
It’s just a bunch of harriers and hovering close in.
I’m really happy with it and the guy I built it for is thrilled with how it flies.
After this flight I was messing with slow rolling harriers and it does them very easy because it only needs a touch of top rudder to keep the nose up.
Even with the double taper wing it harriers upright and inverted very well.
Enjoy the video 13Mb for now i'm calling it the Shunt, but i will probably change that,,,as ussual

Looks really good Spastic! Could not download the vid (30mins over dialup), but the design looks to have all the right stuff to fly well.

Whats the all up weight with the battery?

here are the new pics the latest name that i think will stick is the Demuirgi promounced however you like, it comes from butchering the word:
demi·urge
Pronunciation: 'de-mE-"&rj
Function: noun
Etymology: Late Latin demiurgus, from Greek dEmiourgos, literally, artisan, one with special skill, from dEmios of the people

Dude, that's so cool. I love the "Gearboxes Suck" decal.

So, you gonna start selling these things? If not are you going to at least post some basic dimensions and drawings?

Yeah, gearboxes suck Axi doorstops up and spit those inefficient nose weights out like confetti! But hey, I'm impressed you could get it off the ground...much less fly it.... with such a handicap hung on the nose! Good show!

Not to steel the thread, but all I've ever flown is geared motors (GWS and Himax). I just thought the sticker was funny.

Chuck: I've read a few mixed things on AXI's. BH loves them, I saw a lot of the guys at ETOC ran them. I'm going to buy another brushless for the winter indoor season and was thinking of an AXI. What would you recommend? It's going to go on my 36 inch foamy Edge.

Spastic: How do you like the AXI's you have?

I really don't hate Axi's. For certain applications, they are fine. I'm even putting one in my Hell Raiser. Spastic said a while back that he didn't like the noise the GWS boxes make, and I can't blame him there. Just a little good natured ribbing between factions

But take the 2808/24 at 2.75oz for instance. Drawing 20A on a 10X3.8. I have a 1.75 oz Hacker B20 18L in a 4.83:1 gearbox that will swing a 12X6E and only draws 17.5 A doing it. This would yield a lot more thrust and a longer flight. Win-win. But it sucks

For a 36" foamy, you probably want a 2212/34 or 2212/26.

no offence taken, or meant to anyone just clean electric fun I can take it and dish it, I I have older siblings…I’m used to abuse.
The sticker was not just for you Chuck, there are some locals that kept telling me that axi's suck, like chuck so delicately explains, as i watch them go through 3 pinions a week for their high quality all metal gearboxes, even with a tube of grease in their pocket at all times for the pre-flight dab, and as far as the comparison i know that the gear-jobs are more efficient and I can live with that…
and the 10x3.8 is turning at 8000rpm for about 36oz thrust and 15min flights, i know you get more time and thrust... I’ve also never heard of anybody throwing a magnet on an axi, it would be rather tough to do so…
The father of the guy I built it for owns the LHS, he works at it full time, so he sees the gear sales and loves the money from them... so please keep getting geared motors
a tt46 costs $70 and makes over 5lbs of thrust with a 12.25x3.75apc but its not quiet
BTW how much did that hacker cost? they are nice but $$$
don't get me wrong i'm not a hater, i dont go around telling people what to fly.
we can do this for years, i have stuff to build and fly
by the way, i like magnum engines, and hitec servos
and i run with scissors

Oh, well read this little tidbit or maybe This one

It was worth what I paid for it (I bought it used). And I never said Axi's suck..If I was given one as a gift, or wasn't interested in performance, I'd have a more of them!

And I haven't decided on a covering scheme yet, but I'm getting a few ideas!

those are interesting posts Chuck, i had not heared of the magnet problems with the axi's till now, wonder if billy hell knows anything about this, i wonder if this issue has been addressed. it dosn't make much sence with the position of the magnets, you would think bubble gum would hold them...
peace

here is some NEW VIDEO from the other day...

Yeah, peace!! I don't want guys to think I'm serious about any of this stuff. Just having a kickin' electric 3D machine like you do is plenty enough for me. I wouldn't care if it had the motor out of an electric drill, it's still cooler than heck.

I just like givin' "the other guys" grief. Like Tony Stewart vs Jeff Gordon, or Ford vs Chevy, Saito vs YS. It's all good!!

And there is no doubt your plane kicks it...keep on pushing out the ideas, we all gain, no matter what motor we use [8D]
