DA-100 and 3 blade props.

Most three bladers hooked up to a 100 that I see are Mejzlik or Air Models 25-12s. I'm still in the stone age with a two blader but I manage the throttle well enough not to get chased out of IMAC events.

Scott,
No problem on the Hijack. It happens..
Ryan,
Right now I am using either a Menz-S 27x10 or 28x10. My downlines seem like they can be a little slower so I was thinking about trying a 3 blade out.
You have a link for that Air Models prop?

You can get them through DA. They recently lowered the prices on them, but I think they are still a little more than the Mejzliks.

Wayne, I used an Airmodels 26x12 and it worked well for IMAC flying; it slowed the uplines down but still pulled strong. I am now using a Mejzlik 25x12 ($95 vs $150) and I just love the 'feel' of this prop. It is a bit faster on the uplines, but pulls really well. This is all on a Comp-ARF 2.6m Extra. From now on, it's the Mejzlik for me.

Downlines are about the same with these two props, the mejzlik perhaps a touch slower. I did mean uplines. For IMAC you want consistent speed throughout a maneuver for best presentation (gotta use that left stick). The Airmodels has thinner blades. When using a two-blade, I use a MSC 28x10 to slow the DA beast down a bit. Still pulls like a tractor...

I have been using a 28x10 Menz-S.
I am looking for slower downlines and if it quiets the plane down a bit thats good too.
Thats why I am considering the 3 blade.

Hey Wayne,
On my 35% TBM 260 (~24.5 lbs.) I much preferred the Air Models 26x12 over the 25x12. The 25x12 was too small diameter and didn't provide enough downline braking for my desires. On heavier planes maybe the 26 is too much prop. I'd like to try a Mejzlik 3-blade now that they're getting more popular.

I have not tried the Menz 28x10. The MSC is a 'true' 28" and has a fat blade. Not much difference either sound or downline speed quite honestly. I was rather disappointed, but I do like the way the Mejzlik tracks.
If you are Atlanta anytime soon, come and try it out at GMA. I should also be at Triple Tree for the IMAC contest next month.

Thanks Baron. I'll keep that in mind.
BTW, Nice job on 7th at the Nats. Thats AWESOME! You Unlimited guys make me sick. [>:]
Craig,
If I am in Atlanta I will let you know. I generally fly with Chris and Russell at GMA.
The field was looking great when I was there a few months ago.

RE: DA-100 and 3 blade props.
Hey Wayne-
I ran a Mejzlik 26x12N 3 blader on my DA in my Cap (25lbs). I did not think it gave me enough vertical. Downlines were nice and slow.
(This prop is for sale if anyone is interested, send me an email. $90 and you pay shipping.)
If I was going to buy another 3-blade I would consider a Mejzlik 25x10.
Have never tried the Airmodels so no comment.
Did try the NX 26x10x3. Found it to provide good up and down lines, but it's louder than my current Mejzlik 28x10x2, plus I had to balance it, which I have not had to do with any of my Mejzliks.

Nah, not too hot. Got my engine baffles in and often fly during the hottest part of the day (cuz nobody else does.) Our field has nice metal canopies and is out in the desert, usually a breeze going as well.

RE: DA-100 and 3 blade props.
Wayne,
I have been using a 26x12 air models on my 3W100. it gives very good pace all around, just what you are going for I believe. I had been running a 28x10 menz-s and was looking for breaking too. tried a 28x10 Mejzlik 2 blade and it was a rocket, not what I was looking for. I have been a fan of 3 bladers since I was running a 24x12 mejzlik on my BME 102.
I hear good things about the Mejzlik 25x12 too, I have just never tried one. I know that the 25x12 air models is popular on the DA's too. I believe that the biela is a carbon/wood copy of the Mejzlik blade, just what I have heard.
see you in Cinci!

RE: DA-100 and 3 blade props.
The biela has a much wider chord than the mejzlik and is also has a wood core where the mejzlik is hollow.
I have both brands and the biela pulls harder than the mejzlik but the mejzlik is slightly more responsive.
The biela looks proportionally much better to me.

I have a 25x12 Air Models on the way and access to a few more 3 blades of assorted sizes and brands.
I'll try them all. At least one should give me what I am looking for.
