Default Help with track layout please

We need to redesign our track and need your input. I have 4 basic designs but not sure which one to use. All four consist of an oval with an inner track. Start at the green square and move counter-clockwise to get the direction of the track. Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks
Mike

At the track where I used to race at, every couple months they would hand out sheets of paper with the track boarders and everyone who wanted would design a track, or two or three. Then they would set them all out on the pit tables and everyone would vote for two. The top two would then be voted on once to determine a winner. One of my designs ended up second once. The winner also got a prize but I don't remember what.

I will go for #4.

Sounds like a good idea. I will try that in time but for now there are only 3 of us running the track. I have a feeling that might change once we get it built and going. If you build it, they will come. At least I hope so.

The Track isn't that big is it? it seems like it's very small... but if i were to choose... i would choose track 2. I like technical tracks and long straights.

We are going to measure it this weekend. Roughly, I would say it is between 110 - 125 feet long and 65-70 feet wide.

wow, that's pretty large. Do you think that the turns might be a little big? Maybe they could be tighter or have more turns all together.
My 2 cents, Garrett

Well, that's exactly what my brother and I are looking at. These drawings are a rough draft, but we are looking to make the turns in the oval pretty wide with a steep bank. That way you can stay in the throttle and let her rip. Once we determine how deep they will need to be, the we can fill in the inside of the track. I just wanted some input and ideas from you guys before we really get started on the track.

I really like your idea of the oval around the outside too. Is that your original idea or did you see it at another track? What i was saying earlier was that the infield needs to be more compact.... either that or have some insane jumps! What i understand is that you want a super fast, big air track. That's awesome. Also, where is this track? In your backyard? At your hobby shop? Also maybe this might help. Design your track so that everyone on the driver's stand (you are going to have a driver's stand, aren't you?) can be as close to the straight as possible. I say this because, they won't believe how fast they are really going unless they are 2 feet from the car!
Great design,
Garrett

Let me tell you, shoveling dirt is not any fun. We worked on the track today for about 7 hours with a heat index over 105. We are going to go with track #4. We already had some dirt/sand mix on the track and brought in 40 yards of dirt today. FWIW, the track is 128'L and 76'W. Pretty close on my estimation.

And don't worry Garret, there will be a driver's stand and it will be in the middle of the bottom straight. The track is actually in West Memphis, AR. The owner of a soybean field was nice enough to let us use some of his land. We are also going to try to add 1 or 2 more turns in the middle. My brother and I actually came up with the idea after we visited another track. They actually had 2 tracks (one oval and one regular track). We just decided to combine the 2.

That's a really good idea. Just out of curiosity, what scale was the track intended for? It seems like a really awesome 1/8th scale track.
Later,
Garrett

P.S. my name is spelled with 2 "t's"

With the prior track we had only ran 1/10 scale on it. We aren't changing the dimensions of the track, just the layout to optimize all of our space. I actually broke in a Storm today and my brother is trying to find a good buggy as well. Hopefully we will be able to find a good balance with the new layout to suit all classes.
