mounting question (CH Edge, Fuji 32)
I have a (rear-exhaust) Fuji 32 I want to put on my Creek Hobbies Edge. I haven't had to mount a rear-exhaust engine before- of course the muffler extends past the back of the mounts. The mounting instructions with the engine imply that you should make a cutout in the firewall to clear the muffler. This seems like a bad idea to me. The alternative is to use standoffs.
My question is, is using standoffs more typical/standard in this situation? Should I use plywood or buy premade standoffs? I'm worried about what increasing the nose moment like this might do to the balance- this is already a heavy engine for this plane. I think I will probably have to buy a shorter hub too or the cowl isn't gonna fit.
Insights from more experienced guys much appreciated!
