What paint to use?
Can any of you tell me what brand paint is best to use when painting airplanes. I've had trouble finding colors I like in the model paint at the lhs. What is best for air brush and for painting large areas on a plane. Some one told me to get auto paint mixed for me but surely there are paints available for our hobby.
Thanks

RE: What paint to use?
Take a look at www.nelsonhobby.com. He's got a pretty good line of waterbase paints that work very well. Paasche and Badger both make good airbrushes. I use an automotive detail gun for large work. There's not much sense in mixing up any larger paint batches than that most of the time.
By and large, most any paint you use for color can be sealed with a waterbase urethane, so your paint types and colors are almost limitless. Shoot, you can use exterior house paint if you want to.
Pick up a copy of Harry Higleys' book "There Are No Secrets" There's a lot of finishing information in it that you will use over and over.
