Default H9 P-51

As an owner of a Hanger 9 P-51, I've heard that there is a glue problem w/ the firewall. Can someone tell me about their problems with that ? What rememdy do I now have ?I currently have a 91 Saito in it. It flies great. I live in florida and with the grass as thick as it is I find it much easier off Blacktop.

Also I find three point landings more difficult than two point'ers

I hope Robotech reads this and replys

Sorry Splinter,

I aint Robotech but I can still help you. See the above thread to get information regarding the firewall problem - including pictures.

Some folks pin the firewall, some expoxy the inside wall of the firewall and some do both.

Happy Flying

I'm fortunate I guess...no problems with a Saito 100 and have about 25 flights on mine...stock, no mods....but adding some epoxy to the back of the firewall probably wouldn't hurt!

The H9 people seem to leave some glue out of the joints in some birds so to protect yourself epoxy the back of the firewall complete that way if they did miss then you will be safe.
Three points are hard to do so I just try to get as close as I can and they look very good the hard part is getting to the stall point just before touch down, and that just takes a lot of landings

Default Hanger-9 /P-51

I have 9 flights on my H-9 p51 now, first 3 were with the junk landing gear struts.......to flimisy. I drilled my pivot block out to
3/16 and put a set of BVM struts in, no more landing gear problems.

I put 1/8" wood dowel to pin my firewall.......I have a O.S. ,91
4cycle in my plane. no problems with the firewall so far.

fly the plane it is fun.

Thanks Flying Scotsman for your response to my H9-P-51 question

I guess I will stop flying my stang til I add epoxy to the back of the firewall. I thought taking off the cowl on mine was bad enough !!

I also had a fuel spill on my cowl and lost paint had to replace cowl. I would say after 12 years of flying my experience levell is at least INT/INT and I have trouble with this plane landing. It noses over 5 or 6 ft after touch down. Beacause of this I am taking off on concrete and landing in grass. Anyone else have ideas ?
