Use Towercote for shrinkwrap on batteries?
Any reason not to do this: Shrinkwrap costs an arm and a leg. I've started using scrap Towercote to wrap my batteries. This is a final cosmetic wrap after first giving the pack a good tight wrap in electrical tape. I wrap the pack with Towercote, seal the seam and then shrink it. I'm sure the heat doesn't bother the batteries and its sure not hot enough to melt the solder. I don't have enough experience with Towercote to know if it will crack or deteriorate with age. Just started with electrics. Last time I built a plane tissue and dope was all there was.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I would just keep my eye on the pack. Iron on coverings do get brittle with age. If I were going to do this at all, I would be more inclined to use a "tex" covering instead. The battery is too important to skimp on though. I'd rather just spend the money to do it right.
If you're worrying about it, which you must be since you asked, then it's probably not worth trying to get by on the cheap.
