Default Turbo prop review

A friend of mine, purchased a Wren turbo-prop and asked me to run it for him....

Wren sends a test stand with the engine with all the hose and
plugs all ready connected. (Very nice).. In the pic
below you can see the wooded stand with all
the stuff to make it run... I ran to engine to about %80
and the prop really started to make some noise..

Here is a link to a video of the engine running..

www.corpcomp.com/weeks1/movies/turbo-prop2.WMV

Hits:

Started up first time.. I did not change a thing...

Misses: Manual does not match some the equipment I have..
Web site does not take about it either... I am talking
about the speed controller for the oil pump. Also
oil pump will not run with 5 cell receiver pack.. ????

The misses are very minor and did not take long to figure out...

Can't wait to put this thing in a plane and go fly it..

Cool. (drooling)

Wren,

Please send me two of these to test in my twin projects. I can't afford to pay for them, but will happily put "Wren" stickers all over the plane.
(Hey, it never hurts to ask, right?)

Over a year ago I saw a video of turbo prop with var pitch... I think the
designers moved away from that...

trioval00.. I don't know how fast it turns.. hahah
I think the specs are up to 50 lbs of thrust.... Less with different props..

This power plant has a seperate oil pump, tiny, with an oil tank
where oil if pumped into the gear box and then recirculated, no lost..

The gas generator, or turbine operates just like all turbines we fly.

It was very simple to run, because it was all ready to go,
all I did was "Learn the transmitter" you know.... filled it with
10% oil and %90 turbine oil and started it up...

Whats cool is when you turn the receiver on, the oil pump starts pumping,
weather the engine is running or not... Its very slow and quite so they
put a big light so you can see it running...

I run mostly AMT 450s and this thing just about makes fuel.. hahah

And there I was trying desperately to suppress the excitement caused by the anticipation of my Wren turbo prop that should be turning up this coming Tuesday and then I read this thread and find myself shaking with excitement (well not quite but you get the picture!). I have a Graupner Turbo raven ready to accept the Wren engine (Wren can supply a engine that is a drop in fit to the turbo raven mounting)

Can’t wait!!
