Default Dragonfly #5

Hi all,

Does anyone have any experience with these little dualheads?
Dragonfly #5

Video 1 - Video 2

They look alot like the RC lama XRB ones, just heaps cheaper. Flies on lipo straight from the box.
Im looking for other owners, because I want to know howmuch tinkering and flying skill is required to enjoy these little gadgets.
So, can anyone with XRB or Dragonfly 5 experience please post a quick little opinion on this kind of heli?

Thanks alot,
- Sven

Stear clear of the dragonfly #5 I ordered 1 and requested a refund as soon as I tried to fly it. The guy selling them said they tested everyone of and they all hover. Key word here HOVER,because that's all they'll do is hover. Any control input sent mine flying off to that direction and was reall yhard to get back under control. After I looked at it I could see the servos moved to full response and nothing in between. But on the other hand the Hirobo XRB SR is a dream to fly. I got mine the day before the dragonfly 5 showed up and there is no comparison. The XRB SR is fully proportional and flys great outa the box. The one thing I would do before flying though would be to laminate the foam blades with clear packing tape to toughen them up. But I'll tell you if you go the XRB SR you'll never regret it.

Happy Hovering ,Rick

I'm going to get the Hirobo XRB SR next year.

Can you tell us what modifications need to be done in order for the XRB SR to take the lipo battery other than the stock one.

I had no trouble flying the Dragonfly 5 because I have lots of Heli Experience, But it is true the dragonfly 5 control responses are terrible! The dragonfly 5 can be purchased on ebay for as little as $129. However Parts are a pain in the neck to get. Also note that the electronics are not that good and are almost impossible to buy. My dragonflyer isn't working now cause a micro servo went out. When I tried to get a new servo, It can't be found! So now I may have to buy a brand new Dragonly and use the old dragonfly corpse for parts, However, the dragonly 5 does have better blades, their hard plastic not flexible foam, I'm guessing the hard plastic blades of the dragonly 5 will work on the lama XRB SR........

The servos use on the D5 are those tiny motors use on a cell phone for vibration. One of those servos on my D5 went out of service, so I replaced it with a tiny vibration motor from an old nokia cell phone. It works...lolz.

HI,

I received my LAMA XRB DRAGONFLY.

I'm afraid tht servo are not reliable. When I move the sticks, they go straight to full position.

I've just tested one battery charge, I'll be able to say more in a few days.

regards.
