Default How to measure starting torque?

Hello

Got a silly question.
How do you measure the torque required to start an engine?
Is there some kind of meter that can measure it?

Couple of my buddies are thinking of building our own onboard electric starter for our ZDZ80RV, 40RV and 3W75i etc.
Need to size up the motor and the required gear reduction.

Thanks.

Check out Hobby Lobby or Gene Barton, two different types..both use timing belts..One is part of a special mount, the other mounts the motor in the fuse and uses a link with a joint at each end.....Takes a 12 volt battery, kinda heavy....A rear carb engine would be hard to do..The one from Gene Barton works Ok on a G38.....
OOPS, just check both sites, no longer listed...

I bought the Miller starter conversion for my Dynatron.
