Default question for anyone that has converted a zoom 400 to belt drive

i have been converting my 400 over to the belt drive and my question is did anyone have a problem with remounting the motor? i am using the mega 15 brushless and the shaft and pinion are to long. will it hurt anything to just grind down the shsft and pinion or at very least the pinion gear. thanks
